Senior Consultant- Real Estate Investment Management
This position can be virtual/remote or in any CohnReznick office
CohnReznick, one of the nation’s fastest growing public accounting and business advisory services firms, is seeking a Senior Consultant with Real Estate Investment Management and consulting experience to join the Real Estate consulting team. The team is looking for a talented individual with extensive experience in the real estate industry to facilitate the client-side implementation of global fund rollup and reporting systems. This individual will be required to interact with client accounting, capital markets, portfolio management and senior management groups around the globe. Responsibilities
• Work with stakeholders, business people, and internal project team to understand business needs, interpret information and reporting requirements and perform testing on customized technology platforms and ERP systems
• Document, develop, implement, maintain, and deliver training on investment management solutions to internal and external clients
• Analyze and solve day-to-day challenges with data and analytics/reporting systems including research data and systems issues, resolve and/or prioritize issue resolution, proactively identify data quality problems and support solution identification, and review system performance; identify and recommend improvements specific to commercial real estate in the office sector
• Collaborate with end-users to gather functional and technical requirements, and ensure proper testing/validation
• Utilize valuation models and various debt and equity structures in order to support acquisition and development opportunities
• Provide consulting services in the areas of: real estate accounting, operations, portfolio rollups, scenario analysis and reporting (including equity method, pro rata and consolidated reporting)
• Abstract and interpret fund operating and capital waterfall structures
• Provide technical assistance on each project through all phases to ensure a successful project: from initiation/planning and through execution/delivery
• Work with all team members and project stakeholders on the plan, roles, constraints, milestones, and critical path
Required Experience
• 3-5 years of proven consulting experience, within the Real Estate industry preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in real estate or business administration or other related academic major with essential classes in finance, investment management, accounting and economics
• Masters’ degree a plus but not required
• Solid working knowledge with industry leading solutions, such as Yardi Investment Management, Argus Enterprise, MRI Investment Management, iLevel, eFront, Investran, iLevel, Voyanta, or similar
• Experience in NCREIF and AUM reporting
• Experience using Argus, Cougar, Yardi or other discounted cash flow analysis tool
• Strong working knowledge of international real estate funds, fund structures and joint venture/partnership investments preferred
• Ability to analyze a real estate deal structure:
◦ o Consolidation
◦ o Cash flows
◦ o Waterfalls
◦ o Returns
◦ Understanding of data validation and flow as it relates to the set-up/maintenance of multiple set of books as well as downstream effect on other reporting systems
◦ Consulting skills and demonstrated experience in building strong customer relationships
◦ Strong negotiation, conflict management, risk mitigation, issue resolution, organizational and time management skills
◦ Strong Excel modeling skills
