Job Family: Risk
Monitors activities to minimize the company's exposure to risk. Activities may include quantitative analysis, risk identification and remediation. Represents or supports the reputation of the company to minimize compliance and regulatory risk by resolving issues and ensuring adherence to company and legal standards. Responsible for ensuring that all of the company's activities adhere to the necessary rules and regulations, and that the company complies with legal/regulatory statutes and jurisdictions.
Job Function: Business Control
Ensures transparency of business results, finance and processes. Typically organizes a reporting system and tracks goals accomplishment, collect and process data and provides managers with all necessary company management data and information.
Summary of Responsibilities:
The Manager, Business Control & Risk Management is responsible for managing the various activities related to risk management performance within a single risk domain. The Manager will manage a team that works to identify, assess and action various risks through the assigned business line by executing a defined risk program. The Manager will oversee the evaluation of processes, review internal control/quality reports and participate in initiatives and lead opportunities for improved efficiency, effectiveness and/or Risk reduction. S/he supports and monitors business line risk and compliance with corporate policies and procedures and federal and state laws, including appraisal/appraiser related laws and regulations.
Essential Functions:
• Identifies, analyzes, monitors and minimizes business risks, and ensures proper control policies and procedures are in place.
• Provides leadership, coaching and counseling to department members including assigning and developing department, team and individual goals and performance management.
• Defines scope and establishes team targets for project and day to day deliverables.
• Assists with knowledge transfer of resources and processes to other Risk teams.
• Communicates regulatory requirements and risk mitigation strategies to lines of business.
• Provides thought leadership and expertise in risk management practices and subject matter knowledge.
• Ensures the business functions have adequate processes and procedures in place to effectively monitor and manage risk.
• Conducts risk and control assessments on a regular basis to ensure segment/function meets corporate standards that specifically relate to internal operating controls.
• Monitors activities related to compliance with operational risk guidelines.
• Develops practical solutions to implement operational controls and risk management activities.
• Assesses levels of adherence/execution and identifies risk/control improvements in areas with medium to high complexity.
• Identifies cross-segment solutions and collaborates across multiple areas to identify effective and practical controls and risk management techniques.
• Manages and coordinates analytical reporting needs for the business units.
• Leads and contributes to policies for developing, documenting and analyzing existing control procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages subordinate managers and professional staff. Is responsible for the strategic guidance, development and evaluation of employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Santander’s policies and applicable laws.
Requirements:
• Education -
◦ Bachelor's Degree: Accounting, Business, Statistics, Risk Management, Information Systems, Finance, Economics or equivalent field.
◦ or equivalent work experience
◦ Master's Degree: Accounting, Business, Statistics, Risk Management, Information Systems, Finance, Economics or equivalent field.
• Experience -
◦ 5-9 years Risk Management.
◦ Previous management experience.
• Skills & Abilities -
◦ Understands and communicates impact on line of business of all relevant enterprise/regulatory led initiatives
◦ Strong risk assessment, negotiation and problem resolution skills
◦ Strong collaboration and relationship management skills

Working Conditions:
• Frequently: Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing, and walking.
