Job Description
Administer and support associate benefit programs, processes and plans along with answering benefit program questions from associates, supervisors, managers and benefit vendors. Provide support to Associate Relations leadership team and answer questions for associates, supervisors, managers and executives related to Associate Relations practices. Areas of knowledge are general in nature related to the Associate Relations function at Umpqua Bank. Responsibilities may require expertise in one or more of the following specialties within Associate Relations: employee relations, recruiting, benefits, payroll, training, affirmative action or safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Administer specific Associate Relations programs by ensuring appropriate approvals and internal process controls are maintained.
• Serve as a contact for Associate Relations questions, issues or concerns posed by managers or associates.
• Develop trust and partnership with managers and associates while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
• Responsible for investigating and providing background on associate complaints and problems and involving the appropriate Associate Relations Manager, as needed.
• Maintain a current knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements and assist Associate Relations Managers in ensuring bank compliance with all applicable Federal and State laws.
• Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities -- knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.
• Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.
• Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description.
• May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.
• Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
• At least (2) years prior experience in administration of Associate Relations programs processes and plans.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Effective communication with associates of diverse backgrounds and organization levels within and outside of the bank.
• Working knowledge of federal and state labor laws and Associate Relations policies and practices.
• Proficient level of interpersonal skills to communicate, empathize and reason with associates in situations that is often sensitive and stressful.
• Ability to work across a variety of technology platforms and working knowledge of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS).
• Proven planning, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, facilitation and presentation skills.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
• Office environment -- no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands.
• Occasional travel.
