Job Description
Job Summary:
Conducts a variety of quantitative and qualitative research and analyses on individual equity and fixed income securities or classes of securities. Provides ongoing coverage of assigned asset class or strategies. Assists in analyzing the composition of investment portfolios and recommends portfolio strategies to fulfill investment objects. Analyzes information and situations and communicates ideas and recommendations to the Investment Policy Committee (IPC). Manages the assets of an assigned group of client investment portfolios. May meets with clients to determine the client's objective(s) and appropriate asset mix to achieve these goals; discuss portfolio performance. May assist in developing new business through meeting with prospective clients.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serves as a Member of the Investment Policy Committee, collaborates with team to develop investment policy for several strategies spanning asset allocation, equities and fixed income. Top down economic analysis as well as stock specific expertise is required. Reads and interprets the pertinent daily flow of written and verbal material distributed through brokerage firms and government agencies.
• Implements the investment policy with respect to the assigned client(s) funds. Raises or lowers the equity or fixed income holdings to meet the desired level of exposure. Monitors exceptions and work towards reducing the risk inherent in providing investment services. Regularly reviews the mix of securities within individual portfolios; presents reviews to the client and/or committee; ensures account is in accordance to established objective(s), with respect to holdings and client contact.
• Maintains client relationships through regular communication. Produces and develops client communications and reporting mediums. Assists in creating informational materials for marketing, seminars and educational events.
• Maintains regular contact with internal financial consultants, brokers and trust officers keeping them informed regarding strategy, outlook and portfolio positioning.
• Maintains regular contact with selected brokerage representatives; to include the latest research news, trading information, and response to request for specific information.
• Participates on one or more investment committees and contributes to multiple strategies.
• May lead the day-to-day activities of an assigned team and do so in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws. May be responsible for participating in interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning or directing work, appraising performance, and resolving problems.
• Monitors an assigned equity sector and/or asset class for the firm's portfolios. Conducts comprehensive industry and equity investment research and prepares and communicates buy and sell equity recommendations. Evaluates likely stock performance and takes ownership of the stock ideas and recommendations across all strategies. Serves as the subject matter expert for the companies and sectors under coverage. Presents investment recommendations to each strategy team. Develops and maintains advanced knowledge of portfolio risk modeling techniques and financial analysis methodologies as part of the investment management process.
• Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
