Title: Corporate Communications, External Communications Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Department: Marketing
Location: Plymouth Meeting, PA
Reports To: Director of Corporate Communications
Primary Function
The Corporate Communications, External Communications Manager works with executive leadership, company management, and employees throughout the company to drive external awareness and brand engagement by promoting the organization through relevant, consistent and timely communication.
Principal Duties
• Public Relations
◦ Manage PR calendar
◦ Serve as liaison with PR firm and company leadership
◦ PR content development and editing
# Press releases, blog, articles, etc.
◦ Industry recognition/ranking programs
• Online Presence & Social Media
◦ Facilitate a coordinated effort across all content contributors to ensure a consistent online presence
◦ Online reputation management
# Serve as liaison with social and online vendors
◦ Organic corporate level content
• “Institutional” presentation of company
◦ Company presentations to rating agencies, investors, etc.
◦ Parent organization communications/reporting
◦ Company Fact Sheet and similar presentations/reports
• Brand Management
◦ Act as brand guardian, maintaining brand integrity across all business channels and company communications
◦ Maintain and manage core brand collateral
• General
◦ Collaborates with employees throughout the organization to develop and coordinate content across all communications channels; ensures consistency of message and alignment to overall company strategy
◦ Stays informed and aware of organizational operations and initiatives, and identifies areas where additional internal or external communication is needed; serves as an active member of the team in developing future communications strategies, tools, and media
◦ Works in coordinated effort with Internal Corporate Communications and Marketing team
Education and Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, marketing, human resources or journalism
• Five (5) years of communications experience, preferably public relations or corporate/internal communications
• Mortgage/Financial Services experience is a plus
Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements
• Communication expertise (written, verbal, and visual):
• Ability to tell a great story by clearly and effectively articulating thoughts and ideas
• Excellent ability to conceive, draft, proofread and edit written materials quickly, including demonstrated ability to understand and communicate about complex, technical or sensitive subjects in a clear, concise and engaging manner
• Must have an eye for detail and possess the writing and grammatical skills necessary to develop content that requires little or no editing
• The ability to handle tasks independently, as well as with a team
• Excellent listening, creative thinking and interpersonal skills
• Relationship builder who can develop partnerships and credibility with colleagues at all levels
• Visual design and content management experience preferred
• Project management experience preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
