Job Title Warehouse Generalist
Warehouse Generalist
1st shift – Monday – Friday 6:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
JOB DUTIES:
• Perform numerous broad and challenging inventory and warehousing tasks in an efficient/accurate and timely manner in the warehousing and/or cardroom area.
• Work activity may include, but is not limited to, receiving, storing, loading and unloading, marking and sorting, counting, verifying, checking, locating, weighing, packing and unpacking, stapling, stenciling, identifying, disbursing, boxing, and dispatching.
• Responsible for timely and accurate pulling of orders, materials, paper goods, plastics, or any other item to assure that production and other departments have the appropriate supplies needed for timely use.
• May also, be assigned cycle counting and/or physical inventory responsibilities.
• Occasionally, supervisory or technical assistance may be needed for more challenging work.
• Requires the ability to perform multi-tasking on an on-going basis and may be assigned more than one (1) project simultaneously, that requires focused concentration for extended periods.
• Satisfactory performance requires a good skills and intermediate level knowledge of inventory and warehousing technology and methodology and efficient PC user skills.
• Ingenuity is intermittently required to solve work problems and maintain timely work schedules.
• The incumbent may be assigned to train, assist, and help other people with work.
• Requires ability to work from verbal or written instructions, bills of material, requisitions, shipping-receiving documents, ---- all in English.
• Perform minor maintenance and work with others to assist with major maintenance projects when assigned.
• Comply with all general work rules including housekeeping, safety, and quality – required to keep own general work area clean and orderly.
• Incumbent understands that he/she reports to the Production Manager and receives direction and work assignments from that manager. However, the Shipping Coordinator will assist the manager in assignment of work and will follow up on work status.. Whenever the Production Manager/Coordinator assigns work to an individual, that person is obligated to follow his/her direction.
• The incumbent is expected to perform all duties and tasks within his/her regular department or job and when assigned, in any other department or job to the best of his/her individual skill and ability.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Perform numerous broad and challenging inventory/warehousing tasks to timely provide for the material needs for production and others.
2. Generally does not need supervisory and technical assistance except for more challenging work assignments.
3. Capable of multi-tasking – may be assigned more than one project to work simultaneously – must be willing to cross train.
4. Utilizes good skills and intermediate level knowledge of inventory and warehousing technology and methodology to perform task.
5. Process multiple transactions to send and receive information requiring efficient PC user skills.
6. Improvise intermittently to solve work problem and issues.
7. May regularly be assigned to train, assist, and help other people with work.
8. Work from verbal or written instructions, bills of material, requisitions, shipping-receiving documents, etc. ; uses basic math ---- all in English.
9. Perform minor maintenance and work with others to provide assistance with major maintenance projects when assigned.
10.May utilize and/or operate material moving equipment, fork lifts, carts, etc. and use most warehousing tooling and precision devices.
11.When assigned perform duties and tasks outside department and job to the best of individual skill and ability.
12.Work overtime, weekends, and holiday as work schedules require. Associate may be asked to change shifts for short periods of time to cover work flow.
13.Comply with general work rules – responsible for quality of own work, housekeeping of own work area, and to work safely.
14.Must posses good communication skills (verbal and written) to communicate with the receiving warehouse team, along with external and internal customers
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Physical Requirements:
Work requires incumbent to be mobile and in a standing / walking position with ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly. Uses hands to handle, finger, or feel objects and to perform keyboarding. Also uses hands and arms to reach and grab objects. Sometimes it is necessary to climb, stretch, crouch or kneel. Successful performance requires good vision abilities including close vision.
Education & Experience: Generally up to 15 hours of vocational or related education is preferred, and typically, 3+ years including 2 years as a Warehouse Specialist and 1 additional year performing similar warehousing duties or equivalent combination of education and experience. Time classified in the specific job classifications does not automatically qualify an individual. In addition to the time guidelines, an individual must meet all other job requirements and a company approved job opening must exist. The incumbent needs experience in a fast pace, high volume production environment and understanding of production concepts.
Functional Area Skills/Knowledge: Requires efficient PC user – keyboarding, data entry, and information lookup is essential. Must be able to utilize the appropriate modules of the computerized business system and to update all required work data information. Requires the ability to stay under control while working with continually changing multi tasks in a deadline work environment. Must have good warehousing and inventory skills to perform efficiently and provide quality services and timely delivery to production and other departments.
