Job Summary
Leadership role responsible for driving financial performance, portfolio management, talent management/development and distribution management for a specific territory.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
1. Establishes, drives and implements strategic objectives and unique territory tactical plan, underwriting strategies, best practices and organizational needs management.
2. Ensures profitability, growth and operational efficiencies for territory through appropriate risk tolerance/selection, strategic initiatives and strategic execution.
3. Monitors and drives underwriting performance, development and needs.
4. Manages the portfolio to achieve adequate mix of business
5. Drives key distribution and client relationships in coordination with appropriate CNA constituents. Maintains high levels of visibility in territory, especially outside of NYC Metro area.
6. Drives consistent underwriting discipline and adherence to underwriting authority delegation, audit criteria and portfolio management for the territory. Goal is assume 80% of account authority at this level or within the team.
7. Collaborates and communicates with business partners in Product Management, Actuarial, Claims, Operations, Audit, Branch, Finance, FI & Specialty peer groups.
8. Provides guidance and direction in the development of underwriting and training tools, resources and communication.
9. Lead, direct and have full management accountability for team in area of responsibility with an emphasis on talent management and talent development.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationship
Typically VP and above
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
1. In-depth technical knowledge of underwriting theories and practices within all three segments of FI (Asset Management, Insurance Companies, Banking).
2. Exhibit effective and clear communication with all levels of external and internal business partners. Communication requirements include active listening, engagement, pro-active information/idea sharing and high level of responsiveness.
3. Ability to attract, retain and develop key talent. Must be a key driver of investing in current and prospective talent.
4. Leadership and management skills, demonstrating high levels of efficiency and operational acumen.
5. Ability to drive results by identifying and resolving problems as well as promoting new idea and improvement solutions.
6. Demonstrates highly collaborative engagement with colleagues across the organization.
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree with Master’s preferred in a related discipline, or equivalent.
2. Minimum of 10 years of related work experience, with five years management experience.
3. RPLU Designation preferred.
