The Project Administrator/Chief of Staff role leads projects and supports the execution of management objectives for a highly active congressional affairs team that regularly interfaces with Members of Congress, congressional staff, White House contacts, trade associations, counterparts in peer firms, and internal partners. The team's function encompasses public policy, strategy, advocacy, and relationship management, and also includes a new state and local government relations mandate. As a lean operation, the team must be highly collaborative and mutually supportive in order to be successful. This role is a great opportunity for someone who has exceptional organizational and communication skills -- and who is accustomed to multitasking in a fast-paced environment. The right candidate must be very flexible, teamwork oriented, and experienced with government or government relations work. This role is based in Washington, D.C.
In this role, you will...
• Assist in developing, managing and executing the business plan, ensuring that the appropriate project methodology is utilized and that project deliverables are met throughout the year.
• Manage meetings. Create and develop agendas and related materials, schedule and coordinate presenters. Ensure meetings are run effectively and efficiently and complete tracking and follow-up on all action items. Manage meeting formats, obtain feedback on the meeting experience and modify the approach as needed.
• Design high level department presentations for use by leadership in various speaking engagements and external meetings. Present data and displays information in an easy to understand and creative format. Develop presentations and updates on a wide variety of topics.
• Design and develop regularly scheduled reports and executive summaries.
• Identify, evaluate and elevate issues. Resolve problems as needed.
• Serve as liaison to ensure that project priorities are established and that progress is being made.
• Serve as liaison and ambassador to visitors and strategic external counterparts, including congressional and Administration contacts, trade associations, peer firms.
• Conduct research and analytics, and compile data to support team’s advocacy efforts.
• Maintain the team’s advocacy materials and internal and external communications, including managing the logistics of strategic speaking engagements and the timeline and execution of Washington updates, internal website content, and congressional outreach deliverables.
• Complete ad hoc requests as assigned. Offer assistance to other team members as needed when business conditions warrant.
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Undergraduate degree.
• Minimum three years business experience, including government or government relations work.
• Demonstrated project related work experience. Strong project management skills.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to foster teamwork, strategically collaborate, lift's team's performance.
• Strong PC skills (e.g., Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel).
Special Factors
This job will have similar responsibilities to that of a Chief of Staff, but will support a Principal rather than a Managing Director.
