As a Paralegal Analyst you will work as a professional assistant in the department. Specific work areas may include: Investments (residential, commercial & securities); Corporate; Legislative/Regulatory; Products (group, individual, pension); Debtor/Creditor and Tax; Exam coordination; Government compliance.
Accountabilities:
• Manages complex projects with a high degree of independence and initiative.
• Approves guidelines and procedures, directs negotiations, advance strategies and promotes alternative solutions for clients, outside counsel, insurance departments, courts, and other government departments.
• Creates, organizes, and maintains various systems and procedures used in the department and contributes and maintains procedural and substantive manuals for department's clients.
• Drafts legal and/or regulatory/legislative memoranda, documents, and forms to fully respond to various legal and/or regulatory/legislative issues and develops systems policies and procedures for the department or the company.
• Performs a wide variety of complex legal/legislative researchand analyzing of regulations, laws, statutes and/or administrative rules and apprises department lawyers, clients, outside counsel, and court.
Qualifications:
• Requires Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus a minimum of 4+ years related legal and/or legislative/regulatory experience.
• Must have significant and demonstrated expertise in one or more areas of the law and/or legislative/regulatory practices and procedures.
• Requires knowledge of relevant state and federal statutes, legislation and regulations, and/or case law.
• Must have ability to transfer skills and work independently in other areas of the department.
• Demonstrated expertise in legal research knowledge and skills required.
• Must have excellent writing and oral communication and organizational skills.
• Requires strong project management, analytical, and negotiations skills.
