As a Digital Analyst on Progressive’s Acquisition Experience team, you will leverage your skills as part of a team that is relentlessly focused on delivering innovative digital experiences for our customers and prospects. Supporting Progressive.com, you will play a key role in shaping measurement strategy and user activity valuation for the consumer-facing entry points to Progressive’s multi-billion dollar e-commerce platform -- consistently rated as the best website in the insurance industry.
The ideal candidate will have a strategic, consumer-facing digital analytics background (including Media measurement) and be able to demonstrate experience with an array of tools and programming languages (Google Analytics, Hadoop, SAS, SQL, Tableau) used to monitor site performance, uncover emerging data trends, and inform business decisions.
Core Responsibilities:
• Monitor website engagement and performance, support analysis for personalization program, create standardized reporting and dashboards to effectively display results, and communicate actionable insights to cross-functional team
• Manage web analytics requirements, tagging, configuration, documentation, and validation, including coordination with web designers, developers, and technical implementation partners
• Partner closely with the Acquisition Data & Analysis and enterprise Big Data teams to extract and processes data from warehouses and other data marts to track and evaluate customer acquisition efforts, market trends, and customer behavior in order to enhance reporting, valuation, and experience capabilities
• Monitor marketing activities and other external factors for effects on metrics; stay up-to-date with best practices, third-party services, and trends in digital marketing and analytics
Must have qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Business or related field of study (e.g., Math, Economics, Finance, Math/Actuarial Science)
• Minimum of 1 year property casualty insurance experience or related professional experience (e.g., analytical work in a professional setting)
• This position is subject to online pre-employment testing for external candidates
What else we look for:
• Demonstrated experience with digital measurement, including evaluating performance and engagement metrics across marketing/media channel, user segment group, device, browser, etc.
• Ability to map user journeys across a multitude of applications and data sources to uncover actionable insights and meaningful business opportunities
• Proficiency with mining data from unstructured and structured sources including BigQuery, PDW/SQL Server, Hadoop, HiveQL (Apache Hive), or other BI/database management tools
• Strong data manipulation and end user visualization skills; ability to use and interpret data/recognize trends and patterns to inform decision making
• Aptitude for technology; familiarity with personalization, web optimization platforms, and content management systems
• Advanced problem solving and critical thinking abilities; passion for researching and answering business questions, uncovering and correcting data anomalies, exploring new industry trends, etc.
• Effective creation and delivery of communications (written and verbal), reporting, recommendations; ability to creatively present data to diverse audiences/levels
• Other desired measurement, reporting, and analysis skills include:
◦ Leveraging a customer segmentation strategy as an input to valuation, reporting, and analysis
◦ Auditing existing analytics implementations and writing measurement strategy documents
◦ Understanding of SEO, User Experience best practices, and modern web design principles
◦ Working knowledge of technical frameworks that drive website experiences, including JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, HTML, etc.
