Overview
Our client, a Multi-Billion dollar Privately Owned Distribution Company headquartered in White Plains, NY seeks an experienced Credit Manager.
The credit manager position is accountable for the entire credit granting process, including the consistent application of a credit policy, periodic credit reviews of existing customers, and the assessment of the creditworthiness of potential customers, with the goal of optimizing the mix of company sales and bad debt losses. The Credit Manager should be intelligent and intuitive and have a strong knowledge of the business.
Essential Duties
Responsibilities:
Management
1. Maintain a department organizational structure sufficient to meet all goals and objectives
2. Properly motivate the credit and collections staff
3. Measure department performance with appropriate metrics
4. Visit selected customers to obtain additional credit information, and support sales (Estimate - 25% domestic travel.)
5. Provide for ongoing training of the credit staff
6. Manage relations with collection agencies
7. Manage relations with credit reporting agencies
8. Manage relations with credit insurance providers
9. Manage relations with the sales department
Credit Operations
1. Maintain the corporate credit policy
2. Recommend changes in the credit policy to senior management
3. Financial Statement analysis - prepare detailed ratio, and other analysis on a variety of financial statements with the use of Excel. Review, analyze and explain Notes to financial statements. Evaluate and support credit decisions based on review.
4. Manage customer credit files
5. Monitor the credit granting and updating process
6. Accept or reject the staff's credit recommendations
7. Personally investigate the largest customer credit applications
8. Monitor periodic credit reviews
9. Monitor deductions being taken by customers
10. Manage the application of late fees
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Excellent financial statement analytical skills, and credit evaluation.
• Solid working knowledge of bankruptcy rules, particularly in areas of preference, reclamation, critical vendor status.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel in conjunction with financial statement analysis.
• Detailed oriented with great communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Must be able to work well under pressure and be proactive when problem solving
• Minimum of 5 years in Trade Credit Management
