POSITION SUMMARY:
Nuveen Solutions, a part of Nuveen Advisory Services (NAS), is seeking a Head of Client Solutions. The Nuveen Solutions Team is focused on delivering a wide-range of investment expertise across asset classes to our clients through advice and insights, packaged investment capabilities and custom mandates. Nuveen Solutions brings together Nuveen’s best thinking and full breadth of investment capabilities to deliver portfolios aligned with investors’ desired outcomes. The Solutions team includes dedicated investment professionals who leverage the team’s asset allocation research, analysis, and insights from Nuveen’s asset class leaders to deliver portfolios that serve individual and institutional investors. The Client Solutions Team is responsible for working with distribution partners and their clients to deliver and promote the team’s insights, packaged investment capabilities and design customized mandates across retail, retirement and institutional channels.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Manage a team of Solutions Specialist across retail, retirement and institutional client channels, serving in a player-coach role to drive new business and support existing capabilities
• Design and execute overall strategy for the Client Solutions Team based on key engagements with NAS Stakeholders, including distribution, marketing, product and client service and information teams
• Drive and measure overall team success through metrics reporting to the broader Solutions team and NAS stakeholders
• Partner closely with broader Nuveen Solutions teams (Portfolio Solutions, Portfolio Management, Quantitative Research and Business Management) to prioritize and align resources with broader Nuveen Solutions vision
• Represent Nuveen Solutions at external engagements (conferences, speaking engagements, etc.) as well as serve as the Solutions lead voice in internal activities (campaigns, global sales meetings, trainings, etc.).
• Promote Solutions outcome focused investment process and application across mutual funds, model portfolios and customized mandates, including articulating current investment positioning and broadly in the context of global market conditions to internal and external clients
• Position and communicate the value of multi-asset solutions strategies and model portfolios to internal and external audiences
• Work closely with product and marketing teams to articulate outcome-oriented investing framework and identify new product development opportunities
• Support Sales team as needed with thorough, detailed, and timely responses to inquiries about specific multi-asset strategies and broader solutions opportunities
• Travel to clients and prospects including financial advisors across multiple channels and home office due diligence teams, as well as institutional clients
• Partner closely with distribution and market teams to raise awareness of team’s capabilities and services
• Travel required
Required skills:
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university
• Multi-asset class experience required
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in the asset management/financial services industry with direct experience as a Client Portfolio Manager and / or in portfolio strategy or portfolio management.
• FINRA Series 7 and 24 or ability to obtain in three months
Preferred skills:
• CFA, CIMA, CFP and/or MBA highly preferred
• Deep understanding of asset allocation and portfolio construction methods and how they are used to fulfil investor goals
• Strong client service and sales orientation
• Solid knowledge of mutual fund products, financial services industry, and investment strategies and concepts, including familiarity with SEC and FINRA regulatory requirements
• Demonstrated success working with wholesalers, financial advisors, strategic account platforms and institutional clients
• Familiarity with technology tools including Morningstar Direct, FactSet, Bloomberg, and the Microsoft Office suite
• Persuasive oral, written, and presentation communications skills - and ability to simply and effectively describe complex ideas to different audiences
• A strong team leader who can serve as a player-coach to an existing and growing Client Solutions Team, as well as an ambassador for team and firm culture
• Ability to establish and build effective working relationships with key clients, client firms, vendor partners, internal departments, and with industry groups and influencers
• Effective ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects independently and simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities and timelines
• Able to think strategically and creatively and connect broad ideas with detailed execution
• A genuine team player that believes in the power of collaborative work and builds relationships with co-workers in a collegial and respectful manner
