Overview
The VP/AVP of Financial Analysis & Valuation (Valuation and Investment Analysis) is responsible for developing and maintaining the models utilized in the projection and valuation of mortgage-related products and other financial instruments that PennyMac may invest in or manage, with a specific focus on Mortgage Servicing Rights (MSRs). The VP/AVP will also be responsible for providing analytical support and analyses to key internal business partners leveraging existing valuation tools and methodologies. The VP/AVP will also be responsible for overseeing the implementation and development of valuation technology and development. The VP/AVP will have supervisory responsibilities managing a team of Analysts to support these functions.
Job Description
• Manages the development, testing, and deployment of internally-developed and third-party models for Mortgage Servicing Rights (MSRs) and other mortgage-related and financial instruments that PennyMac may invest in or manage, which in turn are utilized in investment analysis, business forecasting and planning, and financial reportin
• Support internal business partners analytically through development and deployment of key analytics to support business needs
• Oversee and manage the progress of valuation development and technology initiatives and ensure timely completion within established goals
• Researches and obtains information on current trends and developments in financial modeling and financial markets to ensure that PennyMac’s methodologies are best practice and in line with other market participants and market information
• Demonstrates behaviors which are aligned with the organization’s desired culture and values
Ideal Candidate will have the following:
• 4 yr college degree and background in Quantitative Finance or another quantitative discipline
• 3+ years experience in mortgage valuation and modeling
• Specific knowledge of Mortgage Servicing Rights (MSRs) and relevant modeling methodologies
• Knowledge of mortgage industry and financial concepts associated with mortgages
• Experience managing and mentoring a team in a high paced environment
• Strong understanding of technology, both theory and in practice
• Strong organizational skills, and detail oriented
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills, in particular Excel
• Experience utilizing relations databases for data analysis
• Superior analytical skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
• Experience with MSR valuation models including QRM, Polypaths, Compass or MIAC a plus
