Opportunity Overview
Product Review provides independent analysis of investments and services that may be offered to clients. The department's analysts use quantitative and qualitative data to determine whether the structure, management processes, design and/or credit worthiness of investments align with the firm's investment philosophy. Product Review is a separate division within Edward Jones and reports directly to the firm's Managing Partner.
Position Requirements
Qualifications Required in the Job:
• Accounting, Finance or Economics Bachelor's degree and/or MBA preferred
• CFA Charter or actively pursuing CFA designation.
• Series 7/66 or their equivalency required or attainable within six months of hire.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Minimum Experience Required:
• 2+ years experience as an analyst preferred
Depth of knowledge of principles and practices of a specific field of specialization:
• Proficiency in financial modeling and using spreadsheets, data tools, and financial databases (Bloomberg, FactSet etc.)
• Capable of reading and interpreting highly technical and/or legal language.
• Strong understanding of financial statements.
• Solid knowledge of economic, statistical and investment concepts.
• Ability to thoroughly analyze assigned products and thoroughly document conclusions and supporting materials.
• Solid knowledge of assigned sectors or products.
• Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to monitor assigned investments on an ongoing basis and thoroughly document conclusions about continued appropriateness.
• Initiate and conduct research related to the investment quality and merits of various products, making use of sources such as prospectuses, official statements, contracts, financial statements, financial journal articles, and industry contacts.
• Demonstrated understanding of Product Review’s mission to be the informed buyer for clients.
• Strong understanding of the Edward Jones investment philosophy and firm business model.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing and presenting decisions to leaders, internal service receivers or FAs through file memos or guidance pages.
• Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to confidently and competently articulate decisions to team members and leaders.
• Ability to represent Edward Jones by meeting with senior management of vendors or issuers covered.
