Job Description
Essential Job Functions
• Serve as the Lead on a team of AML and OFAC professionals, working to provide an independent Second Line of Defense approach to risk-based monitoring and evaluation by focusing on current, high impact compliance risks, developing assessments, and providing input over control effectiveness through formal reporting, as well as monitoring remediation activities.
• Work independently as a Lead on the FCG Compliance Testing team to provide effective oversight on the risk-based monitoring and evaluation activities, including assessment, monitoring and testing, analysis of findings and reporting, to ensure effective, sustainable risk management process exist.
• Execute and lead in the planning and execution of multiple FCG Testing reviews by required deadlines.
• Identifies obstacles within the scope of assignments and proactively initiates appropriate solutions.
• Excellent understanding of applicable AML/BSA, OFAC and Anti-Corruption regulations and laws, industry trends, emerging issues and themes.
• Strong product, industry, and regulatory subject matter knowledge and ability to understand its applicability to risk management strategies.
• Review policies and procedures and associated compliance risk programs within the line of businesses to ensure consistency with current applicable banking and securities rules, regulations, and laws.
• Demonstrate ability to translate knowledge into scoping of FCG reviews, and testing design.
• Analyze risk and controls self-assessments (RCSA) to identify potential weaknesses and/or control gaps.
• Develop and document testing performed, including results and conclusions in a clear and concise manner.
• Provide heightened awareness around significant risks and proactive identification and remediation of control weaknesses or gaps.
• Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with mid to senior level management, other internal clients, peers, and Audit.
• Collaborate and partner with others in Financial Crimes Governance and other Risk Management teams, including the Compliance Risk Evaluation and Assurance (REA) Team to meet desired objectives.
• Conduct review and challenge activities and escalation, as required.
• Escalate promptly to appropriate management any material breaches of applicable laws, rules, policies or standards with an actual or potential compliance risk impact, and assist in determining the necessary corrective action.
• Formally document and report complex findings and solutions to FCG Management, Chief AML Officer and management within the line of businesses.
• Demonstrate the ability to prepare and deliver formal presentations and provide training to other team members.
• Independently monitor for changes and best practices in the banking industry as it relates to AML/OFAC and Anti-Corruption laws and regulations.
• Sought out by peers, leaders and line of businesses for information related to AML/BSA, OFAC and Anti-Corruption risk.
• Proactively collaborates and assists others, regardless of team, to achieve desired outcomes.
• Identify and provide process improvement opportunities and future-state control advisory services to the FCG Testing team and line of businesses.
• Completes other administrative assignments and projects as assigned by the FCG Compliance Testing Manager and/or FCG Program Director (i.e., not limited to, setting up line of business meetings, document preparation, etc.)
• Consistently maintains the Lead role in the development and on-going enhancement of the FCG Compliance Testing Program and related testing procedures, processes and reporting.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required in business, finance, legal or related field (equivalent experience may be considered).
• 5+ years of relevant regulatory and/or audit experience and skills, with a strong focus on risks, controls, and risk-based auditing and testing techniques, with the ability to independently to plan and lead complex reviews.
• Maintains an active professional certification in Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or equivalent industry expertise.
• Strong knowledge of financial services compliance and operations including the related rules and regulations of the financial services industry to include: OCC, FRB, State Law, and other pertinent regulations.
• Strong knowledge and broad understanding of banking across all lines of businesses, products and services.
• Strong knowledge of AML/BSA, OFAC and Anti-Corruption compliance and other compliance processes, and applicable techniques for implementation of regulatory, compliance and legal requirements and compliance processes.
• Must be able to execute multiple assignments by required deadlines; identifies obstacles within the scope of assignments and proactively initiates appropriate solutions.
• Independently demonstrates ability to prioritize to most efficiently accomplish objectives, including proactively communicates delays or additional availability.
• Experience managing initiatives requiring strategic planning/thinking across multiple functional areas and business partners.
• Strong leadership skills coupled with an ability to influence others.
• Demonstrates the ability to build relationships with peers, mid and senior leadership in area of expertise, with a focus on customer service and relationship management.
