Primary Function: The Senior Commercial Lines Marketing Representative is responsible for working with the producer and client-facing staff to understand the client’s need and obtaining the most appropriate carrier coverage. Typically works on the most complex placements. May assist in preparing RFP responses. Typically reports to a department manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Independently acts as the primary negotiator in obtaining the most appropriate carrier based on client needs.
• Provides marketing expertise, support and assistance to Producers and Account Managers.
• Develops an overall marketing plan and strategy for assigned accounts to ensure that marketing objectives are met.
• Partners with producers and client-facing staff to market new and renewal accounts and coordinates delivery of submissions to appropriate markets.
• Reviews and compares quotes to obtain the most comprehensive insurance programs and products at the most competitive value available.
• Negotiates price, terms, coverage and commissions with company representatives.
• Participates in meetings and events with company representatives to learn about product offerings and develops relationships with the appropriate company personnel.
• Maintains awareness of the insurance marketplace and insurance company underwriting guidelines, appetites and programs. Keeps abreast of new developments in the insurance marketplace through publications, seminars and industry organizations.
• Serves as a primary internal resource regarding market conditions, product offerings and carrier appetite as they relate to line of coverage and class of business.
• Makes sales presentations with producers as requested and serves as a resource to producers during the sales process.
• Travels to carrier offices to negotiate with underwriters as needed.
• Overtime work, as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Designations
• College degree preferred, high school diploma or equivalent required
• Appropriate active Property & Casualty license required
• Insurance designation of CIC, ARM, etc. preferred
Skill Requirements
• Experience and proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work with numbers including basic calculations
• Organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Projects professional appearance and manner
• Self-starter with the ability to be flexible
• High attention to detail
Work Experience
• Typically has up to 5+ years of placement experience
• Strong knowledge of insurance brokerage industry including products, rating, underwriting, coverages and industry operations
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to communicate effectively with producers, carriers and staff
• Ability to stand or sit at a workstation during a standard workday
• Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and printer
• Ability to move about the office to access office machinery and supplies
Mental Requirements
• Ability to work and meet challenging deadlines and expectations
• Job entails meticulous attention to detail. Must perform well with frequent interruptions or distractions.
• Ability to quickly adjust priorities, focus and direction as circumstances dictates
