POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Senior Director for Nuveen’s Quantitative Strategies team you will have the opportunity to architect and influence the direction of our artificial intelligence and machine learning strategies. In this role you will drive the development of machine learning tools, process automation, and natural language processing. Partnering with portfolio managers, key stakeholders and technology, you will lead in the identification, planning, and prioritization processes that will drive high-level functional concepts from roadmaps through proof-of-concepts to production. Your role will be engaged in the research associated with quantitative and index strategies that span global public markets in fixed income, equity, and responsible investment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Provide thought leadership and collaborate in the definition of long-term strategies for integrating artificial intelligence into the investment process
• Utilize machine learning, specifically natural language processing to mine unstructured data, to extract information from documents such as electronic filings, contracts, news, etc. for investment insights; build methods for document clustering and topic modeling
• Create, socialize, and execute a long-term plan to increase efficiencies enabled by artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities
• Work with investment personnel to develop investment signals utilizing machine learning and advanced statistical techniques
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Experience
• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree or PhD in a technical field of study such as computer science, computational linguistics, statistics, mathematics, or engineering preferred
• Five or more years of fixed income or equity quantitative research experience
• Experience working with artificial intelligence and machine learning with natural language processing preferred
• CFA preferred
Desired Experience
• A strong understanding of the end-to-end technology lifecycle, preferably with practical experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning projects
• Excellent client relationship management, communication, networking and influencing skills
• Self-motivated with strong project management and analytical capabilities
