Reporting to the Director, Employee Relations and HR Operations, the successful candidates will work with the entire Employee Relations Shared Service (ER SSC), HR Business Partners ( HRBPs), and the business to handle employee relations matters. The incumbents will collaborate with HRBPs and partner with business leaders and employees to provide guidance and consultation including, but not limited to, conflict resolution, performance coaching/counseling, disciplinary action, and policy interpretation and application. This position will play a key role in day to day risk mitigation, as well as use data analytics to identify trends and recommend interventions.
In this role, the individual will:
• Be an objective and trusted adviser for HRBPs, employees and management;
• Conduct HR investigations, including, but not limited to: unfair management practices, bullying, hostile work environment, etc.,
• Partner with management to handle performance counseling, attendance counseling, policy violation and conduct related cases, including disciplinary recommendations and associated documentation;
• Provide guidance and direction to managers on employment issues and related laws including, but not limited to: disability, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, worker’s compensation, etc.;
• Partner with applicable areas (e.g., Employment Law, Accommodations Unit, Integrated Disability Management Unit, etc.,) to ensure review, assessment, and recommendations on employee absence situations comply with federal, state, and local laws, as well as company practice;
• Support management at employee meetings as needed, including performance, attendance and conduct terminations;
• Provide thorough and timely documentation in the ER SSC’s case management tracking tool;
• Provide direction, and/or guidance to employees and managers to help facilitate and/or resolve human resource issues (e.g., departmental/management/employee conflicts, etc.);
• Consult with management and employees regarding work environment concerns;
• Proactively identify and analyze data to identify ER trends and patterns that will assist the HRBPs in their strategic work with leadership to create a unique and compelling culture. Develop action plans and recommend interventions to effectively address issues, where appropriate. Conduct focus groups, climate assessment, etc., in support of the action plan;
• Represent the ER SSC on projects/committees that may be part of an HR or business initiative;
• Create and facilitate formal and informal training on employee relations matters such as performance counseling, case documentation, etc.;
• Handle and respond to HR policy/practice issues. Occasionally assist in the development, implementation or roll out of new policies and procedures.
Qualifications
• 5+ years of Human Resources experience in a corporate environment, including conducting ER investigations, partnering and coaching leaders on performance management, and analyzing trends in employment data and recommending solutions;
• Strong working knowledge of state and federal employment laws including but not limited to, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, NLRB, Title VII, etc.;
• Superior relationship management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively and partner well with others in order to build strong and trusting relationships;
• Strong initiative and solid judgment abilities/skills; must display a balanced, objective approach and sound judgment when recommending a course of action or handling an investigation;
• Ability to work independently and with a sense of urgency;
• Ability to provide an independent point of view on people and issues while having the courage and sensitivity to deliver tough messages to leaders and employees;
• Demonstrated effective problem-solving and decision-making skills;
• Strong influencing skills when recommending and implementing solutions with business partners;
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately;
• Project management skills and ability to juggle and prioritize multiple responsibilities;
• Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail;
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and produce results;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a disciplined approach to case documentation;
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
• Ability to travel as needed;
• Ability to work in the office.
