Sr. Financial Analyst
Position Summary
The Sr. Financial Analyst is a critical role within the SME Finance Team. The Sr. Analyst is responsible for supporting the Small & Medium Enterprises Business with critical planning, analysis and reporting of Business Performance. Performs a variety of complex duties including the collection and analysis of financial data from reports and various sources. Prepares materials for presentation to the Business Executive and Management Team.
Essential Job Functions
1. Build and enhance the models and tools used to forecast the financial performance of the business line, including Loan Balances, Deposit Balances, Interest Income, Fee Income and Operating Expenses
2. Supports the forecasting and budgeting process to insure budgets are set at the cost center level across the Business to enable the Business Head to hold production teams accountable for financial performance
3. Prepares key Business Performance reporting for the Business Leadership Team. Ensures meaningful and relevant information while guaranteeing data integrity and accuracy.
4. Performs monthly review and evaluation of actual financial performance compared to budget and prior year of the SME Business and Segments. Work in close partnership with the Business Teams to gather key insights driving KPI and Financial Trends.
5. Build and enhance segmented profitability reporting to track Return on Equity, Efficiency and Liquidity across different segments of the business and develop key insights to influence business investment decisions
6. Leverage external data sources to develop benchmarking reports comparing the Business performance to industry/peers/competitors
7. Proactively communicates with manager on potential reporting issues and proposes solutions and alternatives.
8. Expected to identify opportunities to improve efficiency of analysis and reporting
9. Will participate in key initiatives to help optimize profitability of the Business
10. Stand ready to support urgent ad hoc requests as necessary to support Executive Level business decisions
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree- Required
• Master’s Degree- Preferred
• CPA or CFA- Preferred
• Requires 4 years minimum prior relevant experience.
• Complete knowledge of financial analysis and principles of economics of financial and cost accounting
• Complete knowledge of financial institution balance sheet, profit and loss and analysis techniques
• Working knowledge of GAAP accounting issues as they relate to the banking industry
• Excellent Excel skills
• Knowledge and skills in Hyperion & Essbase strongly preferred
• Knowledge and skills in statistical analysis (SAS, SQL) a plus
• Excellent Power Point presentation ability required
• Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results and analysis
• Demonstrated ability to develop solutions to highly complex and diverse analytical problems which requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factor
• Time Management and organizational leadership skills
• Ability to work effectively with diverse teams
• Skill coordinating and leading effective meetings
• Ability to problem solve and prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment
• Strong professional communication and presentation skills
