Discover is looking for an entrepreneurial and seasoned analytics professional, with a track record of success, to lead the Discover Personal Loans (DPL) Pricing and Analytics team. Reporting to the Vice President of Personal Lending, this position has a full range of responsibilities for the strategic direction and execution of our Pricing and Analytics infrastructure and activity.
Mission and expected outcomes for this role:
Provide leadership to ensure continued growth of Personal Loans within the Discover family of products while building capabilities and relationships to drive profitable growth. This role serves as a key member of the DPL management team.
Areas of Ownership:
Analytics & Modeling
• Provide direction and expertise in analytics and data science/machine learning to support strategic initiatives across a range of consumer banking products.
• Work closely with our Credit Risk and Decision Science teams, as well as executive management, to ensure that the firm is leveraging the best analytical tools and techniques in the service of optimizing business performance.
• Manage a large team of marketing analytics professionals to build a best-in-class analytics approach to inform the creation of marketing strategies that accelerate growth and maintain Discover as a top personal loan provider.
• Lead analytics for the direct marketing channels with a focus on maximizing response. Developed and introduced new direct mail strategies that will result in an increase annual originations.
• Manage Digital Analytics with a focus on understanding customer online behavior to inform initiatives that support key stakeholder goals and objectives.
• Generate annual applications/originations plan and monthly forecast, which is leveraged downstream by various business units including Work Force Management in planning for staffing needs.
• Lead the creation and maintenance of automated reporting / dashboards to leverage in monitoring and tracking business performance.
• Responsible for promoting a risk-aware culture and ensuring efficient effective risk and compliance management practices.
Pricing
• Perform pricing and market analysis and coordinate pricing for the organizations products and/or services in order to optimize profit and meet marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives.
• Work closely with business development, marketing, and finance departments to develop compliant cost/price strategies and proposals.
• Research and track competitor pricing and market trends.
• Analyze the impact of pricing changes on profitability and growth rates.
• Resolve critical issues and contribute to the business unit/area development.
Other Responsibilities:
• Develops and implements the organizational strategy for intelligence and issue-resolution utilizing analytical analyses, including both qualitative and quantitative methods.
• Manages an analytics organization including hire/fire, performance reviews, assignment of work, and development decisions.
• Partners with leadership to understand business intelligence and business issue analysis needs.
• Partners with technology teams to identify, develop, and implement core analytical tools and capabilities.
• Presents finding from analyses and makes recommendations to leadership.
Skills:
Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, or related field
• 8+ years of experience in Analytics, Modeling, Insights, or related field
• In lieu of a degree, 10+ years of experience in Analytics, Modeling, Insights, or related field
Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of experience in Analytics, Modeling, Insights, or related field
• Demonstrated success scaling or building analytical infrastructure
• Extensive modeling experience including AI and machine learning
