Edelman Financial Engines is seeking an experienced professional to join its team as a Portfolio Analyst in Fairfax, VA or Richmond, VA.
This Analyst will complete projects and critical tasks, and support internal business systems by utilizing knowledge of performance and cost basis, data validation, and conducting system maintenance.
Responsibilities:
• Provide reporting solutions to help financial advisors analyze their client account information
• Research performance, cost basis, pricing, and account valuation
• Support the integrity of client account data through ongoing account reconciliation and scheduled database maintenance
• Attend and conduct project meetings with staff members and third parties to help complete company initiatives requiring the use of Portfolio Accounting resources
• Create and maintain detailed documentation of department processes and procedures
• Develop training materials and conduct presentations for financial planning staff
• Conduct Portfolio Accounting department training with new and existing members of financial planning staff on the role of the Department, its processes and procedures, and the systems they manage
• Identify potential process improvement opportunities
• Develop project plans and perform periodic reporting on work progress, project completions and additional ad-hoc reporting as needed
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Economics
• 2-5 years Financial Services industry experience, specifically in a broker/dealer or registered investment advisor environment preferred
• Must be highly analytical, able to conduct independent research, and capable of providing solutions based on the interpretation of client, investment, and firm-level data sets
• Can develop logic and methods to screen data to identify anomalies
• Must have a working knowledge of portfolio tracking software
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
• Proven understanding of performance calculations (Simple, IRR, TWR), and cost basis required
• Proven ability to calculate performance measurements, risk statistics, and cost basis methodologies
• Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) experience and knowledge of IRS cost basis regulations a plus
• Prior experience with Salesforce, Microsoft CRM, and Microsoft SharePoint a plus
• Morningstar experiences a plus
• Able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands, and work with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
• Must be comfortable communicating complicated information in a simplified format to various internal and external contacts
• Attention to detail and multi-tasking skills required
• Position requires a high level of confidentiality
