POSITION DESCRIPTION
As an Accounting Specialist you will become part of a rotation within the Accounting Organization both domestic and international (General Accounting, Shared Services, Policy, SOX, and External Reporting).
Our Accounting Specialist will be responsible for, but not limited to the following responsibilities:
• Responsible for various accounting functions including financial reporting to management, posting journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, maintaining proper controls, implementing process improvements, and special projects
• Will have exposure to various functional teams across Finance, Billing, Treasury, and Tax
• Prepare standard and specialized reports including balance sheets and income statements, according to Generally Accepted Account Procedures (GAAP)
• Analyze financial reports and makes recommendations relative to the accounting reserves, assets, and expenditures
• Participate in the month end close process by preparing and uploading journal entries into Oracle
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations in accordance with First Data’s internal account reconciliation policy using Blackline software
• Participate in quarterly review/annual audit with external auditors, internal auditors, and Sarbanes – Oxley team
• Work on cross functional teams implementing new account and finance technology
• Coordinate accounting matters with other departments or divisions
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5
• 0 to 1+ years of relevant experience in large company internships
• Advanced technical skills, comfortable working with large amounts of data in MS Excel and MS Access
• Team player with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and intellectual curiosity
• Ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment
• Professional written and verbal communication
