Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
Working closely with the Communications Director, the Internal Communications Manager will develop and implement internal communication strategies for Umpqua Bank’s commercial and corporate business units. The candidate must have demonstrated understanding of internal communications planning within in a professional business setting, solid writing and editing abilities, and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. He/she must be a relationship builder.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Establish an internal communications strategy in conjunction with senior managers.
• Ensure organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders.
• Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as the intranet, corporate reports, senior leadership emails, corporate announcements, and presentations.
• Draft messages or scripts from senior executives for presentation to employees in written or spoken form.
• Storyboard or translate ideas to a creative team of art directors and designers
• Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the organization
• Manage the internal communication response to crisis situations which affect organizational perception and reputation
• Establish metrics, track progress and develop tools to improve communication effectiveness
• Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.
• Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.
• Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Bachelor’s degree required in the field of journalism, communications, English or related field.
Agency and/or corporate communications experience a must.
5- 8 years of experience developing and executing internal communications plans.
Extensive experience writing, proofreading and editing content for internal audiences and strong attention to detail.
Project management and stakeholder management experience.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple demanding initiatives concurrently, balancing multiple priorities, working with minimal supervision and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, fluid and deadline-oriented environment.
Advanced knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint.
Possess excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate and lead teams effectively in both small and large group settings.
Demonstrate leadership ability at all levels of an organization and ability to bring people together to collaborate on both short- and long-term projects.

• Office environment – no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands.
• Occasional travel required.
