Our IT Department is now seeking a highly talented Disaster Recovery Coordinator to join our team. This position will be located in our San Mateo, CA, office (near San Francisco, CA). This will be a contract-to-hire or direct hire opportunity.
The Disaster Recovery Coordinator reports to the VP of IT and develops, maintains, and tests disaster recovery plans, including the technology associated with the recovery of the business. This individual will work closely with the Business Continuity Program Manager to manage continuity efforts, establish testing schedules, and define disaster recovery methodologies for applications based on recovery time objectives and recovery point objectives defined by the business. The Disaster Recovery Coordinator will work with IT management to determine new replication and recovery methodologies that can be implemented to better meet business needs or increase efficiency.
The Day-to-Day:
• Work with Business Continuity Program Manager to understand RTO and RPO for business applications
• Develop and maintain the disaster recovery plan which includes:
◦ Replication methodologies
◦ Ensuring server allocations for disaster recovery meet business needs
◦ Testing of methodologies and plans
• Coordinates development, reviews and updates of IT’s DR process and procedures
• Define critical and time-sensitive functions and work to increase the firm’s capabilities to perform these functions from multiple sites
• Work to identify, test and implement new technology or practices that would increase the efficiency of IT’s ability to recover systems in the event of a disaster
• Recommend recovery strategies and options to Senior Management and assist with the implementation of recovery solutions
• Develop schedules for training / awareness for IT
• Maintains current knowledge of industry practices as well as key vendors
Your Qualifications:
• Solid knowledge of current disaster recovery techniques and technologies
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience
• Financial services industry experience preferred
• Strong verbal/written communications. Must be able to interface and coordinate work efficiently and effectively with business units
• Strong administrative skills, with effectiveness in developing tasks and managing resources to achieve target dates
