The accounting firm of Wipfli/Macpage is seeking an Accounting Transaction Specialist to work out of the South Portland, ME office and to lead and manage outsourced accounting engagements for clients inside and outside the firm’s geographic footprint. This individual will establish and maintain valuable client relationships with assigned clients in our Financial Accounting Outsourcing (FAO) service line.
Responsibilities
• Manage assigned client service engagements
• Ability to prioritize and focus in a high-paced, multi-tasking environment
• Ability to quickly learn and use new technology software applications
• Excellent communication skills via telephone, video conference, email and in all other formats as required by frequent client and customer interactions
• Processing of vendor bills received for payment through various Accounts Payable software platforms
• Review of monthly accounts payable ledgers for missing routine bills
• New vendor set-up, W-9 administration, and 1099 report preparation
• Client invoice preparation and transmission to customers
• Posting customer payments received
• Downloading and general ledger coding of bank and credit card transactions
• New hire payroll setup and communications
• Download of payroll transactions processed by third-parties
• Provide assistance to client staff relating to client’s back office services
• Assist client with compliance areas associated with back office services
• Implement client best practices to overcome challenges, minimize risk and improve overall operations
• Contribute to overall FAO client and team success through sharing ideas, enthusiasm and strong work ethics
• Pursue advancement in technical back office service capabilities as well as advancement in “soft skill” competencies
• Assist with client onboarding projects as needed to ensure a smooth client transition onto Wipfli’s back office accounting services
Qualifications
• Associates Degree in Accounting or related field at minimum. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. College students with a major in accounting will be considered.
• 1+ years of prior bookkeeping experience with specific experience in an Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and/or Payroll environment that processes a high volume of transactions preferred
• Strong technology skills with accounting software, such as QuickBooks and Intacct
• Strong technology skills using Microsoft Office 2007 or later (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook at a minimum, more applications preferred)
• Experience working in a paperless environment strongly preferred
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Team player with a positive ”can-do" approach
• The ability to handle stress and manage multiple priorities
