Responsibilities
Based in Downtown Los Angeles, Oaktree is seeking a Vice President or Senior Vice President to work within the US Senior Loans and Structured Credit Strategies. The individual will participate in all transaction functions and portfolio management activities:
CLO Issuance and Management:
• Communicate with internal and external providers of capital to pre-issuance warehouse facility;
• Participate in and negotiate the drafting of CLO governing documents, working closely with manager’s counsel and arranger;
• Build and maintain direct relationships with important investors, particularly AAA and Equity tranche investors;
• Collaborate with US Senior Loan product specialist to develop marketing materials and produce timely, professional responses to investor data requests; and
• Advise US Senior Loan portfolio manager on CLO management best-practices and investor sensitivities.
CLO Tranche Investing:
• Perform diligence on potential tranche investments, to include cash flow modeling, manager underwriting, portfolio evaluation and documentation review;
• Advise portfolio manager on investment strategy and product design;
• Screen available investment opportunities for fit with existing mandates, as well as with portfolio manager’s strategy;
• Assist portfolio manager in communicating with broker dealers, to include trade execution;
• Build relationships with various credit investment teams (loans, high yield, distressed, direct lending, private equity). Attend their regularly scheduled meetings, monitor their electronic communications. Contribute to their investment activities where appropriate;
• Collect asset specific developments and projections (particularly related to stressed loan issuers) as well as general loan trends and themes relevant to CLO investing
• Collaborate with Structured Credit product specialist to develop marketing materials and produce timely, professional responses to investor data requests;
• Assist with development of proprietary technology, client reporting, pricing validation; and
• Earn trust and confidence of executive leadership, sales representatives, other portfolio managers and clients.
Qualifications
• Direct relevant experience in CLO structuring, syndication or trading. Would consider a securitization attorney
• Outstanding financial modeling and analytical skills
• Expertise with Intex, Excel and Bloomberg

Education
A Bachelor’s degree with honors from a top university or college. MBA, Juris Doctorate and/or CFA preferred.
