Position Description

The Private Equity Fund Accountant in the alternative investment department is responsible for the successful and accurate completion of the accounting, administrative and investor servicing requirements for various alternative products and structures for assigned funds. This individual must also strictly adhere to established departmental policies and procedures required to service alternative funds.
The responsibilities for this position may include some or all of the following:
Maintain daily accounting records on a fund and partner basis
Prepare cash, currency and position reconciliations to all counter party accounts for each assigned fund on a daily basis
Resolve cash, currency and position reconciling items on a timely basis
Process funds’ investment activity including fund of funds and direct investments
Prepare wire instructions for money movement for various payments to vendors, investments and partners
Perform monthly/quarterly reporting and valuation for assigned funds within established timeframes
Perform daily/weekly cash reporting analysis to determine cash needs and obligations
Process partners’ capital activity for commitments, contributions, distributions, multiple closings, and transfers; including preparation of distribution and capital call letters
Calculate closing interest, management fee and carried interest by partner
Calculate performance measures on partner, partnership basis, and partnership-portfolio basis for reporting purposes
Review quarterly/annual financials and assist in the funds’ audit process, as necessary
Ability to interpret the legal documentation for private equity funds as it applies to maintaining partner capital accounts; including the allocation of income, multiple closings, management fee and carried interest calculations, etc.
Serve as client operational contact and maintain good relationship with client
Strictly adhere to established departmental accounting processing procedures and controls
Resolve problems and errors on a timely basis (with documentation)
Position Requirements
BA / BS in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics or Economics or equivalent experience preferred
Internship or one year professional experience preferred
Willingness to learn new systems, concepts and broaden knowledge of the fund service industry
Detail oriented
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Team Player
Flexible
Strong aptitude for numbers
Excellent interpersonal, communication and client service skills
Ability to work under pressure
Knowledge of Excel and additional system knowledge a plus (Investran, Geneva, Investier)
Regular and reliable attendance in accordance with position, business and/or client needs
Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the work environment may require an individual to move around the office and from building to building which may expose the individual to weather conditions outside. The individual has to be able to sit or be stationary at a computer and use computers for extended periods of time and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. The noise level in the environment is moderate and the individual must be able to communicate and exchange information with people in person and over the telephone and email.
