Responsibilities
The CIT Financial Intelligence Unit (“FIU”) is responsible for suspicious activity monitoring, financial crimes investigations, regulatory filings, and other financial institution BSA/AML and Fraud based oversight. The VP, FIU Investigations Manager reports to the Head of FIU and directly manages the investigations team. The position will be responsible for the following:
• Manage the day to day operations of the FIU Investigations Team.
• Assign and coordinate caseloads.
• Directly manage all investigations volumes and ensure regulatory filing deadlines are met.
• Work with team leads to perform and manage all second level reviews.
• Oversee and regularly update applicable procedural documents.
• Create and perform targeted trainings for team members on various AML and Fraud investigations topics of relevance.
• Work closely with the Head of FIU to relay all investigations related trends and cases of note.
• Directly perform investigations on high risk and/or internal cases, and as volumes dictate.
• Provide ongoing general guidance and leadership to ensure consistency in processes and that all relevant regulations and internal procedures are followed.
• Provide advice and counsel to the Head of FIU and the Enterprise BSA Officer around FIU Investigations related to internal audit and/or regulatory exam items.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 5+ years of experience in financial crimes oversight for a regulated, financial institution. Retail bank experience is preferred.
• Previous financial crimes investigations experience. Specifically with respect to AML and Fraud based SAR writing and filing.
• Thorough understanding of FinCEN and the Bank Secrecy Act as they relate to FIU investigations and SAR filing requirements.
• Ability to consistently identify suspicious activity from a money laundering and fraud standpoint.
• Strong writing and critical thinking skills. The ability to dictate facts and to draw conclusions effectively and concisely.
• Prior direct management experience is strongly preferred.
• Ability to manage a team in a heavily deadline driven environment and consistently meet goals.
• Proficiency in all Windows based applications (e.g. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Proficiency in Actimize Case Management System is strongly preferred.
