RSM has a unique opportunity for a Microsoft SQL Database Administrator who loves data and is looking for their next challenge. This individual will work alongside our top-notch Database Administration team members, focusing on Database and BI Report Integration. You’ll collaborate with BI Professionals; report writers, Software Engineers, line-of-business professionals and other IT professionals to successfully integrate, move and manipulate data from various sources in-order to provide current, accurate and actionable information to decision makers. This role also assists in the data administration of various enterprise level platforms. The main focus for this role will be to take current data sets and make them available to our BI report design team. You’ll be responsible for ensuring business needs are met, projects are delivered on-time and high-quality data systems are maintained throughout the process. You will apply broad, advanced technical and project management principals and concepts to large projects, and contribute to innovation of new concepts and ideas, and continuous process improvement. This individual will set high standards and foster a proactive, efficient and service-oriented work environment.
Essential Duties
• Responsible for the integration, migration, optimization and implementation of scalable BI data solutions that will provide critical reporting, visualizations and data analytics. Key-contributor in database/application design and architecture to support application development projects and data standards created by the Enterprise Data team.
• Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to identify the ETL processes for ingesting required data into the appropriate reporting environments. Recommends improvements for integration performance efficiency, data security and promotes data integration standards and best practices. Prepares design specifications and functional documentation for assigned data integration projects.
• Ensures data quality and integrity in databases. Evaluates existing databases and data integration. Troubleshoots performance, security and data integrity issues and provides corrective measures in a timely manner.
• Represents the Technical Operations Team on requests for Database integration and reporting solutions requirements and support activities. Supports internal development, functional technology and project teams on an as needed basis. Participates in product evaluations, testing, certification training and product lifecycle management. Also, responsible to adhere to change management policy, documentation updates, rotational L3 DBA technical support and scheduled after-hours on-call support.
Education
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
Experience/Skills
• Significant knowledge of Microsoft SQL and supporting technologies (required)
• Skilled in writing T-SQL, MS SQL stored procedures (SPROCS), Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL), Data Transaction Services (DTS) packages and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) (required)
• Familiar in the use of API web services (preferred)
• 5+ years of experience in SQL related administration
• Knowledge of business processes, production systems, enterprise-wide data flows, source and target databases, and enterprise data warehouse and reporting environment and standards (required)
• Strong background in database design, implementation and security (required)
• Experience with modern BI tools such as WebFocus (preferred)
• Familiarity with accounting and business technology services (preferred)
• Experience in continuous integration, and release management (preferred)
• Understanding of Microsoft CRM Dynamics (preferred)
• Ability to influence and a passion to mentor on proper data management practices to enable BI across the firm (required)
• Capable in collaborating and effectively communicating with both technical and nontechnical users (required)
• Strong problem-solving skills, results orientation and common sense (required)
• Aptitude to learn new technologies quickly, step outside your own comfort zone, and successfully navigate unfamiliar challenges (required)
