State and Local Tax (SALT) Property Tax Senior Manager
Position Summary:
Grant Thornton’s responsive, partner-led Tax service teams help dynamic companies navigate complexity and grow with insightful, practical tax advice. In addition to tax professionals across the United States, our Washington National Tax Office provides deep technical knowledge and responsive support in local, state, federal and international tax. Our tax services include: compliance, human capital services, federal tax services, international tax services, state and local tax services, private wealth services, tax reporting and advisory, partnership taxation, not-for-profit tax, and mergers & acquisition tax services.
The Tax Senior Manager in the State & Local Tax – Property Tax group will be responsible for leading the region's Property Tax Practice and managing property tax services provided to our clients within the region. The successful candidate will work with other property tax professionals and other service lines to grow our existing property tax practice, delivering high quality services to our existing clients and engaging in practice development activities to add additional clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• As Practice Leader, a significant portion of responsibilities will be in the development of the practice, as well as attracting and mentoring talented professionals within the Region.
• Oversee the efforts of multiple client services teams on client engagements; plan, execute, direct, and complete tax projects in a wide variety of industries; provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise to clients; market, sell, design, and implement tax-planning strategies for clients and manage to budget.
• Understand and manage firm risk on tax services and proposals; ensure quality assurance process has been followed for all property tax services provided within the Region.
• Develop a business plan for the Regional Property Tax Practice and set challenging personal and client service team goals.
• Formulate and deliver innovative tax planning and tax savings strategies.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree, CPA, CMI or similar certification required. A minimum of ten years of progressive property tax experience.
• Experience in negotiating and appealing assessed values.
• Ability to manage and develop staff in a highly interactive team environment.
• Demonstrated experience in practice development, business development, and managing other managers.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Masters in Taxation or Real Estate preferred.
Additional Information:
• Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites.
