Morgan Stanley Bank N.A. seeks a Vice President, Market Risk and Wealth Management Product Investment Risk in New York, New York
Work within the Morgan Stanley Market Risk Department (MRD), which provides independent market risk oversight across the Firm’s trading and banking activities. Work in a multi-disciplinary team covering the Wealth Management division and US Bank legal entities. Collaborate across many functions and product areas, and work on a wide range of business-critical risk issues. Complete daily monitoring of market risks, including the use of metrics such as Value-at-Risk (VaR) and scenario analysis tools. Perform risk assessment of the Wealth Management/MSBNA/MSPBNA balance sheet, including mortgages, loans, bank deposits, liquidity portfolio, and ISG trading portfolios on the Bank. Maintain an active dialogue with portfolio managers, risk management colleagues, and other support groups regarding trading and hedging strategies, risk metrics, and limits framework. Responsible for investigating and enhancing the measurement of asset-liability management, interest income sensitivity, and stress tests. Prepare reports and presentations to effectively communicate key risk drivers to Market Risk senior management and regulators. Keep abreast of relevant market events and drivers. Drive improvements in risk representation and limits reporting. Work within the Morgan Stanley Product and Investment Risk (PIR) team, which conducts second line-of-defense oversight over risks arising from asset management activities, investment products offered by financial advisors, and overall Wealth Management business revenue risk. Work with multiple functional areas across the Firm, including the business and other risk management areas, to review and challenge the framework, processes and procedures by which product and investment risk is identified, measured and managed. Assist in developing the risk oversight framework for the Wealth Management business, with a focus on investment activities and product risk. Liaise with multiple functional areas (BU, BU Risk, Operational Risk, IT, Compliance) of Wealth Management to identify key risks within our area of coverage and data sources for relevant information to measure and track these risk indicators. Design and build reports tracking key data. Analyze and interpret performance trends and risk indicators. Prepare reports and presentations for Wealth Management senior management.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Requires a Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration or related quantitative field of study and three (3) years of experience in the position offered or three (3) years of experience as a Risk Associate, Internal Auditor, or related occupation in financial services. Will accept a Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of experience in lieu of a Master’s degree and three (3) years of experience. Requires two (2) years of experience in market risk or trading. Requires two (2) years of experience with: quantitative and analytical data analysis; Excel; fixed income, FX, credit, and interest rate derivative products; preparing presentations using PowerPoint and presenting to senior management; and financial regulations and stress testing including CCAR. Requires one (1) year of experience with: asset liability management and related methodology and modeling including PV01, duration, Net Interest Income, and Economic Value of Equity; statistical modeling and behavioralization models; risk measures including Greeks and Value at Risk (VaR) models; financial regulations and stress testing including DFAST; and regulatory market risk capital including VaR, stress VaR, and stress based capital.
