Position Description
The Enterprise Risk Manager, Consumer and Commercial Banking Products (C&CBP), is responsible for driving the consistent application of the Operational Risk Management (ORM) Framework and Policy, while comprehending the unique risks across Ally Bank. This includes ensuring risks are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled and root cause and thematic analysis is performed in a holistic and consistent manner.
Job Responsibilities
• Utilize operational risk metrics and reporting, business and risk acumen, and C&CBP priorities to support a holistic independent view of risks and effectively challenge Operational Risk-related decisions.
• Provide SME guidance to C&CBP in support of compliance with Operational Risk Management framework components.
• Oversee end-to-end remediation of risks identified through monitoring reviews, self-assessments, automated assessments, and internal and external audits.
• Provide oversight of C&CBP operational loss identification and reporting; escalate material losses as appropriate.
• Oversee established risk metrics/guardrails and appropriate analysis/action plans are in place for metrics out of threshold.
• Actively participate in C&CBP risk routines to ensure thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the assigned areas of coverage.
• Host and maintain consistent meetings with C&CBP to advise on changes, updates, or recent events related to Operational Risk.
• Leverage independent view of risks to identify and influence business decisions; serve as a trusted advisor to C&CBP and be an ambassador for Operational Risk.
• Adhere to processes and procedures that support the delivery and oversight of core ORM processes (e.g., Issue Management, Operational Losses, Scenario Analysis, Operational Risk Metrics, and Risk and Control Self-Assessments).
Qualifications
• 7+ years' experience in Risk Management or applicable control function (e.g., compliance, testing and monitoring, or audit), preferably in financial services or similar industry.
• 3-5 years' experience in a Risk Management role aligned to a Brokerage and Wealth Management function or 5+ years' experience in Brokerage and Wealth Management operations, preferred.
• Must demonstrate strong familiarity with risk and control concepts.
• Must be self-motivated, willing to take on initiative, and capable of working independently.
• Strong influencing skills and ability to provide advice/direction to all levels of employees and management.
• Must demonstrate ability to assimilate unique business practices / functions with Enterprise level policies.
• Working knowledge of risk management components (e.g., policy/procedures, governance, reporting, risk control self-assessments, loss event capture) in a regulated environment.
• Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with multiple levels of management.
• Ability to independently problem solve in scenarios where a precedent does not exist.
• Must demonstrate high level of professional skepticism.
• Ability to multi-task, handle competing priorities, and follow through on commitments.
• Ability to effectively manage and mitigate situations that have potential for conflict.
• Willingness to adapt to meet the needs of the risk organization in a dynamic regulatory environment.
• Willingness to challenge conventional wisdom and ability to effectively articulate viewpoint.
• High level of personal integrity, with the ability to handle confidential and otherwise sensitive matters professionally and with the appropriate level of judgement and maturity.
• Proven ability to manage issues through to resolution; skilled at making sound judgment calls.
• GRC tool experience is preferred (e.g., OpenPages, Archer or equivalent experience).
• BS/BA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
