Description
The Valuation Center of Excellence (COE) for the Individual Life business is seeking an Associate Actuary to support FASB Targeted Improvement (FASB TI) reporting and analysis. In addition to FASB TI, the associate will work closely with the Modeling COE in laying the groundwork for a transformation of the entire reporting process. The associate will support the ILI reporting team with periodic valuation, including support of Principle Based Reserves reporting as needed. We are looking for someone with leadership potential who can help build out the existing processes as well as influence and incorporate process improvements. The candidate should have strong analytical and communication skills to evaluate, understand, and communicate drivers of financial impacts.
This position will provide the candidate with the opportunity to collaborate with a wide array of functions, including Finance, Valuation, Modeling, Reinsurance, and Corporate Actuarial.
Responsibilities:
• Perform FASB TI assumption sensitivities (Mortality, Lapse, Expense, Premiums, etc)
• Support the annual unlocking process
• Research issues related to reported results or calculation procedures
• Maintain appropriate controls; Address control weaknesses; Ensure compliance with Corporate standards
• Maintain and improve procedures and tools; Partner with the Actuarial Modeling COE, and other areas, as appropriate
• Write Business requirement documents to support the reporting from the Liability Warehouse
• Test the reporting output from the Liability Warehouse
• Develop management exhibits and insightful analytics
• Support Periodic Valuation (Stat/Tax/PBR)
• Support internal and external audits
Qualifications
• College Degree (BA/BS) required
• 4+ years of actuarial experience
• Progress towards attainment of the Associate of the Society of Actuaries designation (ASA) is required
• Strong technical skills
• Ability to grasp complex subject matter, provide insightful analysis, and develop innovative solutions
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
• Proven ability to work with broad teams to accomplish goals
• Strong oral and written communication skills
