Does poor spelling and grammar make you cringe? Do you instinctively spot errors in printed materials? When you read overly complex copy, does your brain automatically translate it into something more simple and concise? Are you a bit of a perfectionist? We might have your dream job.
Bring your impeccable grammatical skills and eye for detail to Huntington and play a meaningful role on our Commercial Bank Sales Enablement team. Our team has two core functions: 1) We conduct research and translate the findings into compelling insights and 2) We produce customized sales materials for our commercial bankers. Here's where you come in. We need an incredible copy editor / proofreader to take the quality of our output to the next level.
As a member of Huntington's Sales Enablement team, you will play a key role reviewing sales copy for grammar, spelling, usage and style. You'll make sure our sales content "answers the question" and "tells the story." You'll also ensure our materials conform to Huntington's brand standards and is ready for external publication. Drawing on your copyediting experience, you will interact will all the members of the Commercial Sales Enablement team to raise the quality of our work.
Responsibilities include:
• Perform quality review and edit all sales collateral and research documents to ensure:
◦ Accuracy of spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax
◦ Clear, concise, and contextually relevant content
◦ Overall sense of continuity and presentation
◦ Compliance with brand and voice guidelines
◦ Correct use of brand trademarks, logos, and corporate branding
◦ Needed marketing, compliance, risk sign-offs are completed
◦ Provide final sign-off on projects at release to certify accuracy.
◦ Closely collaborate with other members of the Sales Enablement Team to identify potential issues and suggest solutions.
◦ Update content library with reviewed and approved copy.
◦ Highly organized and driven to meet production deadlines.
◦ Operate in a deadline-driven environment with a positive customer experience attitude.
◦ Team player with excellent relationship skills.
Skills:
• Proven copy-editing experience, preferably in B2B materials.
• Strong journalism background with the ability to turn content into a compelling story.
• Ferocious attention to detail with an obsession for eliminating spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors, improving readability, and ensuring that all content is factually correct.
• Results-oriented with proven ability to prioritize, drive, and achieve results through self and others while working to deadlines under pressure.
• Ability to work within a team collaborative environment and manage both up and down management chain.
• Understand and utilize customer data and market trends to determine value-add needed to attain market-based objectives.
• Actively participate in departmental meetings, planning, and discussions.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years in proofreading/copy editing
Preferred Qualifications:
• Agency/studio/publishing experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to work with a team
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
• Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style
