The Senior Scrum Master is responsible for timely and successful delivery of features/enablers for programmatic business and/or technology objectives that require coordination of multiple Scrum & Kanban squads. Facilitates process and program execution, escalates impediments, manages risk, helps drive program-level continuous improvement, and ensure transparency of program activities.
The candidate will be part of an agile train working to build the next generation of DevOps solutions for Global Retail Management US – Application Technology Services. The candidate will program manage infrastructure development, database and system administration efforts using cutting edge technologies to deliver business value and enabling rapid new business growth.
In this role you will:
• Act as the overall program manager for very visible and critical technology initiatives.
• Be the driver in a fast paced, challenging environment working with cross-functional squads to ensure successful delivery meeting business objectives.
• Aggregate, track and publish PI objectives and squad progress for visibility and transparency
• Collaborate with product owners and senior architect to ensure alignment on strategy and execution
• Implement consistent process and tools for program management
• Remove impediments through provision of appropriate resources, guidance and escalation
• Ensure adherence to agile practice through program increment planning, retrospectives, etc.
• Ensure successful delivery of large impact and/or cross-functional product initiatives
• Coach leaders, squads, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets
• Provide input on Scrum Master performance
• Ability to flex styles & methodologies to guide squad members based on the type of work being done.
• Preparation for and facilitation of Train meetings and processes, including Inspect & adapt, and quarterly release planning activities
• Identify and pursue opportunities to fine-tune and improve Train execution; recommend enhancements related to new and/or existing workflows based on broad view of the organization and a Lean Agile mindset
• Drive collaborative and supportive squad culture through team building and engagement practices
Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree in Communications, Business, Computer Science or a related discipline and at least 6 years of IT and project/program management and experience in Agile software development including coaching on agile methodologies.
• Minimum of 8 years in a leadership position, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• 8+ years of experience with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
• 2+ years of experience as a Release Train Engineer (RTE)
• Requires ability to manage projects from conception to successful implementation.
• Requires solid project management skills, ability to multitask and manage multiple projects in a cross-functional environment.
• Requires excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and team building skills, business judgment, and proven expertise in directing the efforts of a technical staff.
• In-depth knowledge of business functions and extensive understanding of business operations, strategies and objectives.
• Prior Program Management experience
• Ability to effectively apply scaling frameworks and methodologies with three plus years’ experience as a Scrum Master, Product Owner or Agile Coach.
• Strong communication, facilitation, presentation and consensus building skills.
