About Quantitative Analytics
Quantitative Analytics (QA) is a global organisation of highly specialized quantitative modellers and developers. QA is led by Marco Naldi, who is a member of Risk Exco. QA is responsible for developing, testing, implementing and supporting quantitative models for valuation and risk management of traded assets, regulatory and economic capital, impairments, fraud detection, asset-liability management, operational risk, net revenue and balance sheet forecasting, and stress testing across Barclays.
About QA Scenarios
The QA Scenarios Team is tasked with the design and production of regulatory and internal Stress Test scenarios used for capital management and reporting purposes. The team utilizes its expertise with macroeconomic and market variables and statistical analysis of large volumes of historical data to develop plausible forecasts for a wide class of national and sectoral level macroeconomic variables and for market variables across multiple asset classes, for short-term, medium-term and long-term horizons.

Overall purpose of role
• Support the design and production of UK and US regulatory and internal stress tests
• Research, develop, build and run tools for Scenario Design and Expansion, analyze model results for plausibility and appropriateness
• Ensure quality and controls are maintained to high standards
Key Accountabilities
• Accountable for the delivery of economic scenarios for UK and US regulatory and internal stress tests in a timely manner
• Responsible for ensuring that scenarios are economically sound, transparent and fit-for-purpose
• Responsible for ensuring that governance and control requirements are met
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
• Engage with stakeholders in Business teams, Revenue and Loss Model Owners, Model Validation, Technology, Audit, Process Control and Project Management teams through the Scenario design, expansion and use processes
• Engage with regulators in the US and UK, as well as external Audit and Review teams
• Strong communication skills are required to engage with internal and external stakeholders
• Strong leadership skills needed to progress and deliver projects where ownership is distributed across different groups in the organization
Decision-making and Problem Solving
• Strong analytical skills required for model design and for evaluation of the results of economic and statistical models
• Strong organizational skills are required to ensure that all deliverables and governance requirements are met consistently
Risk and Control Objective
Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.
Person Specification
Essential Skills/Qualifications
• Advanced degree (e.g., Masters or PhD) in math, science, engineering or a related field
• 5+ years developing quantitative models, with experience in risk and/or scenario expansion
• 3+ years of experience leading technical teams
Desirable skills/Qualifications:
• Strong skills in statistics/data analytics/econometrics analysis
• Model development experience, either with econometric modeling of time series, or with pricing and risk models across asset classes.
• Proven leadership skills, including the ability to manage deliverables independently and manage relationships with stakeholders across different areas are required for this role.
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong understanding of financial markets and products, especially the interaction among financial variables, and that between financial markets and the broader macro economy.
• Experience with Stress Testing and Scenario Generation in the US and the UK is a plus.
• Experience with statistical and data analysis packages like R, Python, etc. are very beneficial.
