Position Overview
The Commercial Product Management role is focused on accelerating growth in the Analytics product line. The goal is to identify areas for further growth in the business or raise retention rates, with a focus across all the major client segments that MSCI serves in the Americas; Asset Owners, Asset Managers, Hedge Funds, and Sell-side Institutions. This person will be responsible for helping commercial product managers make effective management decisions to achieve the business objectives. This will be done through an understanding of MSCI clients’ investment processes and needs, both from business and product perspectives, and identifying and acting upon the industry trends and the competitive landscape that affects the business.
Scope of Responsibility
•Keep apprised of our competitors and be a resource internally to the pros/cons of their offerings
•Generate ideas for revenue streams, research and vet these concepts on whether they will add value to our overall strategy
•Help develop business cases for new enhancements to existing products and run consultations to merit their worth
•Help coordinate product launches with internal stakeholders: developers, product managers, marketing, sales, legal, compliance, operations, etc.
•Maintain operational metrics in SalesForce and other tools to understand our team’s performance
•Understand MSCI’s strategic advantages to ensure we offer best in class products aligned with our strengths
•Assist in defining product strategy for the Americas Analytics product team and help communicate that product strategy to internal/external stakeholders
Specific Knowledge/Skills
•Excellent analytical and organizational skills
•Exceptional communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
•Understanding of / experience dealing with major international institutions e.g. Asset Managers, Pension Plans, and Consultants, Hedge Funds, Broker / Dealers, Understanding of the Investment Management Process
•A self-starter and highly motivated; ability to work individually and within a team
•Enjoys intellectual and analytical challenges
Desired Experience
•BA or BS in a financial or business field, or equivalent professional experience
•4+ years of work experience in financial services
