This role is based within the Financial Institutions Business Relationship Management (“BRM”) group, is responsible for originating new business as well as maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing clients, bankers and other market participants. The role will also provide tactical and strategic business support for the Non-Bank Financial Institutions (“NBFI”) BRM Group. This is a client facing, relationship management and sales role.
Responsibilities:
We are currently seeking an experienced DCM relationship and new business manager for the Financial Institutions BRM team based in New York. As an integral member of the BRM group, this role offers the opportunity to work within a fast-paced and dynamic team in a demanding, ever-changing and growing business environment. This is a relationship management, business development and account management role, working with DCM Bankers and Financial Institution issuers (primarily focused on our NBFI portfolio).
Reporting to the Head of Global NBFI BRM, this highly self-motivated and focussed individual will have direct responsibility for both developing our banker engagement strategy as well as for originating new business opportunities by developing and executing the marketing strategy to a portfolio of NBFIs in North America, with primary emphasis on the United States.
Principal responsibilities will include:
• The origination of new rating mandates, directly from new or existing issuers and from FI ratings advisors and other DCM bankers.
• Relationship Management of a portfolio of existing issuer relationships.
• Develop and implement the banker engagement strategy, in order to grow the Fitch FI brand with ratings advisory, origination and DCM banker teams in order to help secure new rating mandates.
• Preparation of pitches and other marketing materials to be used in new business generation and revenue retention initiatives.
• The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing input to Fitch’s revenue management team in connection with contract renewals for existing mandates within the portfolio/sector.
• Supporting line manager on bespoke tactical and strategic projects.
• The preparation of fee letters and legal documentation associated with new mandates.
• Management and execution of special projects in areas such as new product development, competitor analysis and bespoke marketing initiatives.
• The role will involve working closely with the analytical team to prioritise and execute on new mandates and pitching activities and with other Fitch teams, including corporate communications, events and accounts.
• Help raise the profile of Fitch and managing the relationships and exposure with professional bodies that are deemed relevant in the banking community and with event organisers in conjunction with Fitch’s events team.
• Liaising frequently with BRM colleagues throughout Fitch to help coordinate market interaction.

This role requires knowledge/ experience of Debt Capital Markets, ideally gained from working within a similar role at a credit rating agency or from DCM, syndication, credit analysis or an advisory role. An understanding of credit analysis would be an advantage. The candidate must have excellent communication skills to C-suite level. Strong marketing and interpersonal skills are a pre-requisite with a successful track record of developing commercial relationships and opportunities. A strong network of suitable influencers/ bankers would also be useful.
Qualifications and experience:
• A bachelor’s degree is required, and a master’s degree is preferred
• This role requires an experienced individual (minimum five years) with highly developed and proven successful new business, relationship management and account management skills
• Excellent English language skills are essential; strong marketing, interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Strong understanding and experience of the debt capital markets would be advantageous. (Previous experience of working in a business development role at a financial institution would be preferable).
• An existing network of relationships with NBFI Treasurers, Rating Advisors and DCM bankers would also be advantageous
• Able to work independently within a strategic framework whilst maintaining high work standards and excellent attention to detail
• Team oriented, with ability to effectively build relationships both externally and internally
• Knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, Word and experience of financial data systems such as Bloomberg and Reuters preferable.
