We have a challenging opportunity for a Sr. Director of Operations – New York Tri-State area based out of our New York City location.
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President of the US this position will lead all field operation units engaged in the efficient, safe and secure flow of customer shipments in/out of US and International gateways. In addition this position will have direct responsibility for guiding the leadership teams and their subordinate staff at each field location and have direct responsibility for the divisions Export function. This position will work hand in hand with leadership in sister departments including but not limited to Customer Service, Imports, Sales and Commodities to ensure appropriate customer satisfaction is achieved at all stages of the shipping process. Finally this role will guide the day to day strategy of the Division relative to efficient logistics process implementation, budget and P&L management and development of productive relationships with members of other divisions of the Company. This position operates in an armed environment and must also ensure that all operational processes and actions taken by the staff are within acceptable and required security/safety guidelines. This position is primarily responsible for all transportation and logistics process fulfillment activities and the development and execution of a business plan to establish the Company as a key player in the marketplace. In addition, responsible for the development and execution of a business plan to establish Brink’s Global Services and the Company as a key player in the business of high-value pharmaceutical logistics.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, refine and execute the US National Operations business strategy for the logistics and supply chain management of high-value sensitive shipments.
• Leads the operational function of this line of business to meet profitability goals – coordination of resources from various country teams and outside transportation vendors to meet customers’ needs.
• Exploration of strategic alternatives, relationships and alliances in support of the delivery of customer liability and support the development of new product offerings and work closely with those business owners to ensure commitments made can be executed.
• Measure and report on the status of all operational activities and maintain strict oversight regarding payroll, OT, operating metrics, delivery time, training, staffing, resource allocations and asset management and relationship building across all US locations.
• Lead team to quickly adapt to change during times of transition, including marketplace shifts/product launches, and effectively uses all partnerships/resources to ensure the shipping process and by extension all security processes are never compromised.
• Provide day to day leadership and direction to all Field Management, internally assigned divisions and other field based support locations. Review and where necessary create internal processes and provide the same to field location employees.
• Oversees and manages Division wide Show Division operations and works hand in hand with Sales to ensure show participation is profitable through expense control, efficient and effective process implementation.
• Participate in and manage the training, scheduling and day to day leadership of all front line employees engaged in the shipping process.
• Act as the primary liaison with other essential sister divisions within the company and other strategic partners/vendors so as to move the Company forward.
• Develop, refine and execute the business strategy for the establishment of a Brink’s service offering for the logistics and supply chain management of high-value pharmaceuticals
• Explore strategic alternatives, relationships and alliances in support of the development of a Brink’s high-value pharmaceutical services offering; Business analysis and decision making related to the strategic direction of the new line of business.
Position Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum of 10 years of general management and business development experience in logistics and transportation of high value/sensitive shipments.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Minimum of 5 years leading logistics/freight forwarding business development teams with high rate of success
Preferred Qualifications:
• General management and business development experience in logistics and transportation within the pharmaceutical industry
• Strong business acumen and the ability to influence and develop strong working relationships within a global organization
• Strong business acumen and the ability to influence and develop strong working relationships within a global organization
• Culturally astute leader who has regional (Americas) experiences, with knowledge and experiential depth across the region
• Ability to formulate, plan and direct corporate venturing activity to accomplish specified tactical, as well as strategic, business goals to include revenue and profitability goals, as well as various related business development and marketing initiatives
• Experience working within a matrixed organization in which leadership and results are driven through influence and relationships rather than mandate
• Advanced degree in Business, Engineering or related field
