Role/Responsibilities
Moody’s Eastern Local Governments Rating Team is part of Moody’s Public Finance Group and is responsible for rating debt issued by local governments in the eastern United States.
The associate lead analyst (ALA) will provide insightful credit analysis and publish thought leading research on key credit trends affecting local governments. The ALA will conduct initial and on-going credit analysis on local government credits. S/he will present in-depth fundamental credit analysis on a regular basis to rating committees and other internal analytical meetings to assign and maintain credit ratings. Further, the ALA will write high quality data driven and opinionated research on individual issuers as well as sector trends. S/he will regularly interact with a broad array of market participants, and will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with issuers, investors, intermediaries and colleagues. Since the ALA will be meeting with issuers and intermediaries, s/he will have the opportunity for moderate travel. The ALA will receive extensive training, with regular opportunities for professional development. The ALA will also contribute to cross-departmental initiatives, with the opportunity to develop an understanding of multiple public finance sectors.
Required Qualifications
• Either a bachelor's degree with 4 or more years work experience or a master's degree with 2 or more years work experience
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, meet deadlines and handle multiple assignments simultaneously
• Strong writing skills along with quantitative and credit analysis aptitude
• Clear and direct oral communication skills
• Strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
