Role Profile
XTF is a fast growing, high profile, independent company owned by the London Stock Exchange Group. Its mission is to be the leading provider of ETP ratings, analytics, and research tools to both institutional clients and investors globally. XTF has established a very strong reputation within the marketplace for the veracity and comprehensiveness of its data and expertise in the Exchange Traded Products market.
XTF provides a comprehensive suite of reference and analytics data across Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) to help investors research and evaluate the global, multi-asset class ETP market. Since 2001, XTF has worked directly with fund sponsors, custodians and exchanges to build a high quality and transparent record of ETP data both historically and ongoing. The global database compiles and calculates key ETP information, including ETP provider and index methodology details, portfolio components, and XTF’s proprietary analytics. Data is delivered across a range of solutions including data packages, white-labelled web platforms and xtf.com.
This position will report directly to the head of research within XTF and be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with key people in the ETF industry and the compilation and veracity of data from dozens of issuers globally with an emphasis on Exchange Traded Products.
Future goals include the creation and maintenance of a highly visible investment portal (website) and API for delivery of global ETP data and portfolio solutions for asset managers, RIA’s and retail investors.
Key Responsibilities
Working within a team of highly-skilled analysts, the individual will undertake all of the following:
• Building a global listed Exchange Traded Products database
• Speaking with portfolio, fund and asset managers
• Reading prospecutses and understanding key financial reports
• Optimizing data integrity and cross referencing key identifiers
• Leading effort to aggregate data from multiple fund issuers and index providers
• Extensive maintenance of and reporting on large data sets
• Automating manual data entry and developing consistency tests
• Establishing relationships and maintaining good relations with managers from other financial institutions
Qualifications / Key Skills
• Degree in a quantitative (mathematics or financial) or economic discipline
• Comprehensive knowledge of financial reports including prospectuses, balance sheets and income statements
• Advanced knowledge of Excel
• Knowledge of data vendors such as Reuters Eikon, FactSet and Bloomberg
• Knowledge of global equity markets, Exchange Traded Products and alternative investments
• Experience writing technical reports and managing metadata
• Understanding the impact of corporate actions on shares outstanding and Net Asset Values and prices
• Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) degree or currently pursuing a strong advantage
• Technical skills an advantage: javascript, HTML, SQL, VB.
• Foreign business language skills an advantage, but not essential
Candidate Profile / Experience
• Portfolio and investment management work experience
• Significant knowledge and experience of quantitative investment techniques in both equity and fixed income markets
• Modern Portfolio Theory and attribution analyses experience strongly desired
• Project Management experience
• Experience in the use of an analytical environment and a desire to acquire such knowledge where it is lacking
• Ability to pay meticulous attention to detail
• Self-motivated and driven individual with the ability to work within a team or alone as necessary
• Excellent in multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent in English oral, grammatical and report writing skills
• Experience of meeting deadlines and managing workloads effectively
