As a Multimedia Strategist, you will inspire and energize crew through broadcast-quality video and innovative design.
The Finance Communication team uses communication as a way to connect Division crew to each other, and to the core message of creating value for Vanguard shareholders. As a member of the team, you’ll consult with Finance leaders and crew to conceptualize, create, and edit a range of media, including video, infographics, presentations, and event communications. You’re comfortable with multiple platforms, such as SharePoint, internal social media, podcasts, and live webinars. You’re a creative problem-solver who can juggle multiple projects with ease. You’ll be best set up for success with a skill set that encompasses design, layout, writing, video production, and photography, as well as experience with social media.
In this role you will...
• Lead multimedia/video strategy by analyzing and determining the business objective, target audience and purpose. Apply productive questioning skills to understand business goals and assesses information to uncover ways to deliver effective and efficient multimedia solutions for major business initiatives. Act as consultant to the business on marketing communications strategy and develops direction for messaging, visuals, and overall story. Collaborate with cross-divisional business partners and leverages data, industry best practices and expert knowledge to best plan methods of multimedia distribution and promotion.
• Conceptualize, pitch and execute strategic multimedia solutions. Translate business needs into multimedia that captures the desired positioning. Ensure that content translates well to rich media and is focused on the audience. Understand business in order to shape content for target audience. Approach problems from different angles and presents alternate solutions when challenged with obstacles to ensure project success and achieve desired business results. Work with cross-functional project teams to brainstorm, plan, prioritize, and complete projects.
• Produce strategically-targeted and integrated digital media deliverables. Manage projects through all phases including pre-production, production, and post-production. Determine production schedule and communicate delivery dates. Plan and organize recording schedule and coordinate with video talent. Produce video, direct crew and talent, design and build graphics, and edit video. Update business partners and senior management throughout the planning and production life cycle of projects and communicate updates. Manage multiple projects simultaneously. Monitor project progress against plan, timeline, and budget. Anticipate problems and take action to keep projects on track. Complete projects efficiently and accurately to meet client/campaign commitments.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and to serve as a leader and expert in multimedia and related emerging channels. Keep abreast of emerging and evolving technology to serve as a leader for introducing new and innovative approaches and techniques to marketing communications. Enhance Vanguard's knowledge of the best ways to apply new technology. Continuously research new techniques and concepts. Demonstrate strong leadership impact and models unquestionable ethics and integrity. Train and mentor junior staff. Energize, inspire, and coach other members of the creative team.
• Build strong working relationships and networks to collaborate with others. Coach video talent, including senior leadership, on performing on-camera to ensure they are well-prepared and comfortable. Direct crew and talent during recordings. Persuade and educate business partners on best practices for developing and deploying video content.
• Create standards for and refines multimedia project intake and production process, adapting as needed. Champion and interpret graphic brand standards, comply with legal and intellectual property regulations. Manage multimedia-related equipment, software needs, and inventory, and make recommendations on upgrades with a focus on cost and quality.
• Participate in other projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Undergraduate degree in film, video production or equivalent experience is required. Graduate degree preferred.
• Minimum of five years of general experience and five years of directly related creative/marketing industry experience.
• Expert in motion graphic design and animation theory and best practices
• Proven experience in expert communication skills (storytelling, conceptualization, visualization) and the ability to get buy-in on ideas within a large, matrixed organization.
• Proven experience in managing client relationships and/or external relationships. Ability to interact at all levels of the organization. Demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively and collaboratively with others across functions.
• Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite: Premiere, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator, Media Encoder
• Experience managing projects through full life cycle
• Experience with distribution best practices and data analysis, familiarity of trends
• Experience creating video for social media and web
• Proficient in directing and coaching production crew and talent
• Proficient in camera/audio hardware, DSLRs, lighting
• Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and ability to function in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Special Factors
Limited travel or extended off-hour support may be required.
