Position at New Penn Financial
The primary focus of the Senior Accountant is to fulfill and manage the daily cash accounting processes, analyze and record general accounting accruals, support servicing transfer accounting activities, perform monthly expense fluctuation analysis, and complete assigned monthly reconciliations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Facilitate all accounting cash processes, including recording cash activity journal entries for all companies.
• Work closely with the Treasurer, funding department, and loan sales department to identify and record miscellaneous activity.
• Provide thorough monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts. Investigate and resolve reconciling differences in a timely manner.
• Support the loan accounting group to identify and clear loan related accounting differences.
• Work with the Accounting Manager to record intercompany activity.
• Analyze and record the month end general accounting accruals across all expenses categories.
• Back-up the Servicing Accountant on servicing related transfer activities such as the daily boarding file reconciliation.
• Perform monthly expense fluctuation analysis and support unusual variances.
• Troubleshoot accounting related problems and address in a timely manner. Communicate in a clear and concise manner to the Accounting Manager and Controller.
• Enforce SOX compliance and custodial controls for the cash related processes.
• Support the Accounting Manager and Controller on various audit and compliance requests.
• Cross-train in other accounting processes and perform other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar discipline is required
• At least 2 years’ experience working in a high‐volume, high‐pressure environment involving the use of advanced spreadsheet functions and reporting tools.
• CPA preferred or experience with public accounting
Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements
• Proficiency in Advanced Microsoft Office applications, including being a strong Excel User (Advanced Pivot Tables, Advanced Macros, Advanced Look-ups).
• Must be extremely detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Requires organization, the ability to manage multiple projects, and the willingness to complete assignments and projects in a time sensitive environment.
• Must be flexible and willing to work closely with other employees within the department, other business channels, and other Affiliates and Subsidiaries within the Company.
• Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with the Manager and other Senior Members of the Company.
