Position Summary
Under minimal supervision, designs, creates and coordinates moderately complex visual communications materials for ERIE's print and non-print media.
Duties and Responsibilities
Creates finished original art and layouts through conventional and or electronic publishing methods for all ERIE print, non-print and Internet media.
Designs layouts by sizing and arranging illustrations, graphics, photography and copy. Prepares production specifications to ensure that company standards are met.
Creates original illustrations.
Participates with senior staff in client meetings and brainstorming/creativity sessions to visualize and develop design projects and/or concepts.
Performs prepress tasks and prepares visual materials for production via conventional and/or electronic means. Provides electronic files for output and performs press checks and proofreads all internal and external print as required.
Reviews and edits color proofs and provides final color guidance to ensure that all copy, photography and graphics are prepared appropriately for film or plate/press applications.
Proofreads copy and makes corrections as required.
Maintains designated equipment.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in design/visual arts, or equivalent, required. Three years of related experience in the graphics or advertising industry, or equivalent, required. Strong working knowledge of electronic prepress and production and design/layout skills required. Proficiency with desktop publishing systems and industry standard software such as IndesignCS, PhotoShop, Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Dreamweaver and a good working knowledge of html coding preferred. Familiarity with the Macintosh operating system preferred.
