Job Summary
The Senior Accounting Supervisor is responsible for providing oversight to approximately 10 accounting staff within the California High Speed Rail Authority. This Senior Accounting Supervisor will have knowledge of accounting principles and procedures; governmental accounting; accounting systems and reporting; the uniform accounting system and financial organization and procedures of the State of California and related laws, rules, and regulations; principles of business management, including office methods and procedures; capital assets; and principles and techniques of personnel management and supervision.
The Senior Accounting Supervisor will be expected to manage monthly and yearly close processes; supervise account reconciliation efforts for numerous funds and appropriations; use the State’s FI$Cal accounting system to capture and analyze accounting data and results; analyze and understand trial balance reports; analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; prepare clear, complete, and concise reports to management; and make sound decisions and recommendations with regard to maintaining control of a departmental budget.

Qualifications
• Advanced degree in business, accounting or related discipline
• 8 to 10 years of accounting and reporting experience
• Active CPA certification
• Management experience
• State of California accounting experience desired
• ERP systems (Peoplesoft, Hyperian) experience desired
• Experience with general ledger
• Ability to lead and manage staff or project team
• Ability to communicate complex accounting information to executives
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to solve problems
• An aptitude for learning and working with technology
