Overview
The Infrastructure investment business (“DWS Infrastructure”) acquires and manages private debt and equity investments in businesses that provide essential infrastructure services such as power generation, midstream energy, transportation, communications, and social infrastructure. With investment teams located in the US, Europe, and Asia Pacific, the business has a global footprint and is focused on managing infrastructure portfolios that can meet the needs of institutional investors and private clients worldwide.
The Infrastructure Debt platform currently manages approximately $1.2 billion of committed capital through two credit funds and various separately managed accounts. The first credit fund (vintage 2014) is currently fully invested with approximately 40 assets and is going through a reinvestment period of optimizing and enhancing the portfolio. The second credit fund (vintage 2018) was recently launched and has deployed capital in approximately 25 assets to date. At the same time, the team is fundraising for its third and fourth funds which will broadly mirror the strategies of the first two funds and leverage their successful track records. The business is looking for one or more Associates in New York to join the investment team and support the exciting and rapid growth of the platform.
Associates on the team are involved in all aspects of the private debt investment process for the credit funds across North America and assist in managing the assets in the funds’ portfolios. You will have strong financial modeling, accounting & finance, credit analysis, communication, and presentation skills, and will demonstrate an interest in the infrastructure industry and its various subsectors.
Main Responsibilities
Associates will be closely involved in all phases on the investment process from origination, financial modeling, due diligence, and investment memorandum preparation and presentation. In addition, Associates will be expected to take on asset management responsibilities with respect to investments under management, with a view of maximizing the performance of such investments. Associates will also assist with various fundraising initiatives, as the business continues to actively market its future funds.
This role will include:
• Building, reviewing, and updating financial models
• Investment appraisal and valuation analysis / credit analysis
• Due diligence on debt investment opportunities
• Liaison with investment bankers, lawyers, tax specialists and other experts to facilitate the due diligence process, both internally and externally
• Assistance in the preparation and presentation of Investment Committee papers
• Monitoring and ongoing reporting performance of portfolio assets
• Working with the investor marketing team to develop marketing materials and assisting with fundraising endeavors
Education Standard:
• Bachelor’s degree (accounting or finance background preferred but not required)
Experience/Background:
• Work experience in investment banking or credit investing
• The appropriate candidate will have experience in financial modeling and accounting, preferably gained in a leveraged finance, project finance, or M&A environment
• Sector exposure to Infrastructure is preferred but not required
