The Manager of Private Wealth Management (PWM) Accounting will serve as a partner to First Republic Bank’s Controller and Chief Accounting Officer and will work with a team responsible for PWM accounting. The individual will have responsibility for financial close; monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reports; related SOX controls; and application of appropriate technical accounting and regulatory rules. The individual must thrive in a detailed and deadline-oriented environment, enjoy coaching and developing others, and have a passion for continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for aspects of PWM month- and quarter-end closing process including: revenue from contracts with customers, intangible assets, foreign currency, incentives and fees (includes certifications, variance analysis and related analytics)
• Review of consolidated assets under management report and communication of trends
• Lead technical accounting research for PWM complex accounting matters
• Ensure compliance with ASC 606, Revenue Recognition
• Play a key role in system implementations that impact PWM accounting (including replacement of the FX system)
• Ensure maintenance of effective internal controls and appropriate accounting procedures for PWM, including evaluation of processes and controls for compliance with SOX 404
• Support other special projects
• Coach and develop employees to be capable of actively and effectively engaging and growing with the business
• Responsibilities include the following: 1) adhering to and complying with all applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to Anti-Money Laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, etc.), 2) adhering to Bank policies and procedures, 3) completing required training, 4) identifying and reporting potential suspicious activity to the BSA/AML Officer, and 5) knowing and verifying the identity of any customer(s) that enters into a relationship with the Bank

Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
• BA/BS degree and accounting, finance or related field
• Six plus years of accounting experience with either a Big four accounting firm, or public company
• Four plus years of managerial experience
• Progressive track record of success in managing within an accounting organization
• Banking or financial services experience is preferred, especially in the areas of private wealth management accounting
• Excellent written and verbal communications
• Proficient in Excel, and experience with Oracle preferred
• CPA, CFE, CISA or CIA or equivalent professional certifications
Physical Requirements:
• Vision must be sufficient to read data reports, manuals and computer screens
• Hearing must be sufficient to understand a conversation at a normal volume, including telephone calls and in person
• Speech must be coherent to clearly convey or exchange information, including the giving and receiving of assignments and/or directions
• Position involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time
• Must be able to travel in a limited capacity
