Position Summary:
We are looking for a Sr. Release Manager to join our Data team in Malibu, CA.
The Sr. Release Manager engages directly with all groups within Technology. This individual must perform in a fast-paced environment and will be responsible for working directly with the development team to support and deploy changes to the various test/production environments.
The ideal candidate has strong experience as a Release Engineer, has a clear knowledge of supporting a profitable eCommerce system. The candidate has a background in SQL Development, Business Intelligence and SQL Database Administration to succeed as a Release Manager. This individual feels comfortable working in a multi-cultural environment supporting Product Managers, Project Managers, Software Engineers, Data Engineers, Finance and Marketing.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the overall release planning, release governance, risk assessment, milestone management, release prioritization, status reporting, production readiness review and change implementation
• Manage the release end-to-end until the software is deployed and delivered to users in production
• Create, document, implement code branches and branch strategies
• Maintain Dashboards with key information such as builds and releases
• Design, develop and test automated build and deployment processes
• Evaluate continuously the efficiency of existing processes and procedures of change and release management and improve practices associated with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
• Manage environments including data refresh and code updates
• Oversee, coordinate and code review all pull requests submitted by the development team
• Triage and resolve environment related defects and provide continuous environment support
• Ensure Development, Test and UAT environment readiness
• Work collaboratively with the team to ensure all modifications are documented and have passed quality gates
• Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
• Work with stakeholders to ensure right controls are in place for process compliance
• Establish consistent industry Data DevOps best practices with respect to build and release engineering and management
• Facilitate cross-department coordination of release management and engineering.
• Support and enhance build and deployment tools through automation using a combination of scripting and processes
• Provide mentoring to Data Engineering team with industry best practices around build, test and deployment
• Inform senior management of enterprise-wide exposure to release risk and effectively mitigate it.
• Experience in planning and scheduling multiple, sometimes conflicting, release schedules.
• Experience in Agile/Data DevOps project lifecycles
• Knowledge of ticket tracking software, such as JIRA.
• Must be detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, CIS, or Computer Science
• Must have at least 10 years of experience on the IT industry
• Must have at least 5 years of experience in TFS (Team Foundation Server) Admin, Powershell and Microsoft Azure release pipelines
• Must have at least 3 years of experience with Git and GitHub
• Must have at least 5 years of experience in Creating projects, New code branches, and Merging code streams in TFS and Azure DevOps
• Must have at least 7 years using Visual Studio
• Must have at least 5 years of experience in creating Build Scripts, Automated Builds and CI (Continuous Integration) using Jenkins or Azure DevOps
• Must have at least 7 years of developing SSIS, SSAS, SSRS solutions
• Must have at least 7 years of TSQL, performance tuning, Query Plans, and Query Plan optimization for TSQL.
• Must have at least 5 years of experience in as a Database Engineer for SQL Server (2012/2014/2016 and 2017) in a multi-site enterprise environment.
• Must have at least 3 years strong project management skills with accountability for end-to-end delivery
• Must have at least 2 years managing a direct report.
• Understanding of dacpac(sql server ) and ipac(ssis)
• Advance level skills in Object Oriented programming languages: C#, Java or Python
• Advance level knowledge in automation SQL and PowerShell unit test creation.
• Experience SQL CLR Integration
• Experience working on Server Core of Windows Server 2012/2016
• Advance level development knowledge in SQL Server 2008-2016 including all latest features introduced in SQL Server 2012, 2014 ,2016 & 2017
• Expert knowledge and experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
• Strong technical and communication skills.
• Desire and ability to work as part of a team with minimal supervision in a results-oriented, fast-paced dynamic environment.
• Ability to manage a team of 5 to 10 engineers
• Must have at least 3 years working with cloud technologies like AWS Athena, RDS and AWS Quicksight, CloudFormation
• Must have at least 3 years working with cloud storage systems like Amazon S3
