Finance Manager, Risk Finance-
The Risk Finance Manager role will be responsible for Decision Support & Business Analysis support to Risk Management (including the Global Commercial Chief Credit Officer) and Marketing teams. This role will focus on providing support on all aspects of loss provision, including: delinquency, net write-offs and credit provision forecasts. This role will have the opportunity to present results/analysis to the Global Commercial Chief Credit Officer, as well as multiple senior leaders in the LFO/DSCOE teams. You will have the opportunity of building financial forecasts to aid in investment decisions, as well as be a key player in development of new forecast methods as we go into CECL.
Responsibilities:
• Forecasting Credit Loss Provision. Presenting month-end results to Finance and Risk partners.
• Provide analytical and decision support for ongoing Risk Management activities including Underwriting, Customer Management and Credit & Collections.
• Maintain close partnerships with all Chief Credit Officers
• Identify strategic opportunities to enhance profitability through detailed analysis of customer behaviors and actions.
• Provide thought leadership in the development of all CBAs to support RIM Business Transformation activities and create the tracking to ensure expected outcomes are achieved.
• Enhance profitability framework to better optimize risk decisions
• Enhance Credit Reserve Methodologies and Credit related accounting policies to ensure compliance with US GAAP and Local Regulatory practices.
• Work cross-functionally on projects across the Global Risk Finance organization to help AXP meet its long term growth targets
Qualifications
• Bachelor degree required
• 5+ years direct experience with financial background
• Excel- Advanced (comfortable with manipulating large data sets, pivot tables, V-Lookups, charts, graphs and financial modeling)
• PowerPoint- Advanced (be able to manipulate power point to work hand in hand with excel)
• Presentations- must be able to create at a professional level and present to senior management.
• Strong collaborative skills, both within the team, as well as across Finance teams required.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to multitask while meeting all business and regulatory deadlines.
• Must be able to apply quantitative techniques and financial modeling skills to translate data into meaningful business dynamics and/or solutions. Solid financial, analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills
• Have the ability to work in an environment with some ambiguity
• Self-starter and high energy person who can operate on multiple, confidential, diverse fronts simultaneously and with careful attention to detail
• Experience in handling and synthesizing complex information
• Flexibility to function in a fast-paced environment with a high energy team and tight deadlines
Preferred but not required (looking for Fast Learners):
• SQL Experience (Must be willing to learn)
• Experience working with financial systems (Essbase, TM1)
• Experience working with analytical tools (Tableau, SAS, Hive, Machine Learning Studio)
• Knowledge of the credit card industry and card economics
