The Commercial Loan Closer is responsible for assisting the Manager and the Group's team lenders with credit-related activities and special assignments; orders loan documents; gathers credit information on current and potential borrowers; conducts account research; orders preliminary title reports; processes consumer, commercial and real estate loan payments or advances; assists loan officers in ensuring loan requests are complete. Additionally responsible for assisting the Commercial Lending Group with cash management activities to include deposit growth and sales of cash management services. Analyzes account activity of current and prospective business customers.
Responsibilities
• Assist loan officers with managing loan portfolios; conduct direct customer contact to update financial and credit information.
• Provides service and support to all areas of the Commercial Lending Group where service or assistance is needed.
• Assists loan officers with credit reports on current and prospective borrowers.
• Conducts account research to assist customers with loan activity and update customer banking relationship portfolios.
• Assists loan officers with credit request process; orders preliminary reports (i.e. title, flood, UCC, credit inquiry, OFAC, Secretary of State, etc.)
• Obtains loan documents from Loan Documentation Department ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Works with insurance agents and customers to obtain insurance documents prior to loan closing.
• Organizes and assembles credit files in prescribed manner; prepares and coordinates financial and loan documentation for scanning.
• Solve problems relative to processing and servicing of loans.
• Performs official notary services as required.
• Assists Portfolio Manager with various assignments or special projects as directed.
• Provides direction on appropriate accounts to be opened based on existing bank statements provided by the prospect.
• Provides customer satisfaction and support by answering questions or concerns of the new or existing customer.
• Provides customers with post-implementation training support.
• Provides technical and operational support to both loan officers and customers.
• Prepares monthly tracking reports on new and existing loan activity.
• Maintains awareness of the Bank’s products and services; attends educational workshops and training.
• Assists staff and management with utilizing computer facilities and resources; provides guidance on usage, resolves minor software inquiries or issues.
• Participates in ensuring implementation and compliance to meet security precautions and protect customer loans, collateral, bank assets and staff.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or four (4) or more years of related experience and/or training.
◦ Work related experience should consist of loan documentation preparation, cash management services including product knowledge, and experience in the financial services industry.
◦ Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
• Intermediate knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank operational policies.
• Basic knowledge of commercial, construction, real estate and consumer loan products and processing
• Intermediate knowledge of title policies and related loan regulations such as RESPA, HMDA and other Bank lending policies on loans to directors.
• Intermediate experience, knowledge and training in all lending activities and terminology.
• Intermediate knowledge of Bank policies and procedures, and the Bank’s products and services.
• Basic knowledge of the Bank’s deposit and cash management products and services.
• Intermediate skills in and personal computer operation, including word processing and spreadsheet software programs (e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel etc.).
• Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
• Intermediate math skills; calculate interest, commissions, proportions, ratio and percentages; balance accounts; locate routine mathematical errors; ability to draft and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to deal with routine problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
